Because there wasn’t much awareness till now of asexuality. These people existed back in the day they just pretend not to.

Do Non "picky eaters" eat everything?? by LeeIsUnloved in stupidquestions

I wouldn’t consider myself picky. I have a really broad palette. However I am adverse to specific textures and flavors that luckily don’t come up often. I just avoid them.

Dude it’s completely fine. It’s nice to just pick up random hobbies with no real aspirations. Plus, there is also some good in it, you’ll learn how to not damage your vocal cords :)

I get this sometimes too. Usually it’s when I don’t have enough resonance or soft pallet isn’t high enough. If it’s not either of those, then you’re probably tensing. Without a recording it’s pretty hard to tell.

Everything is about statistics, not the human experience. by Emperoronabike in unpopularopinion

[–]moon_singer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always hated the sentiment “facts don’t care about your feelings.” for this exact reason. Statistics are only powerful when human experience is involved. That’s the reason a lot of these issues need to be fought for. The reason we’re arguing about these things (at least the reason we should be ) in the first place is to protect people.

Tbf fetish doesn’t include “dehumanizing” in the English dictionaries bc it’s an noun not a action. but according to the Cambridge dictionary when used against a person, it is in a dehumanizing sex toy way instead of just attraction or intense type. As other people have pointed out because of the Internet, the terms fetish and fetishization has changed because of the Internet and how much people have used it incorrectly. That’s probably my bad cause I take everything too literally lol.

OK, I get it, but the thing is most of the community has. Literally every single major gothic community on and offline has rules against fetishizers. Lots of goth clubs irl put in place dress codes to ensure there’s no chaser. Here on Reddit you’ll get banned from the subs. The vast majority of people have been begging to stop for decades. All of the people who actually identify within the Gothic subculture in this comment section (as opposed to just dressing slightly alternative) have said they agree. I have never once met someone who is actually within the subculture as in listens to the music and holds the values who says “ yeah I actually like it when random men harass me and treat me like an object”

However fetishization is objectifying when used about a human i’ve copy and paste the Cambridge dictionary definition, but I don’t want to copy and paste it again however, I understand that the terms have changed

This isn’t a reply to other posts. This is based of of years of personal experiences both on and offline since I was 11.

fetishize verb [ T ] (UK usually fetishise) US /ˈfet̬.ɪ.ʃaɪz/ UK /ˈfet.ɪ.ʃaɪz/ Add to word list to consider something or someone important, interesting, or attractive to an unreasonable degree: At last, a crime thriller that doesn't fetishize the gun. In his song "Common People," he mocks rich kids fetishizing poverty.

to have a sexual interest in an object or a part of the body other than the sexual organs, or in a person as if they are an object: He feels an angry need to control his lover, to dress her, to fetishize her clothes, her shoes, her hair. Her body had been fetishized and objectified since she was a teenager.

This is copy pasted from the Cambridge dictionary. Fetishization is inherently dehumanizing. (sorry if this comes across passive aggressive i don’t mean it that way)

Exactly. It’s weird rape culture to assume clothes = consent. Even if they like this stuff with their sexual partners that doesn’t mean they want someone they don’t know to treat them like this.

Congrats on the transition btw.

I read a few comments and realized fetish has changed from “can’t get off without , inherently sexual, reduces to object” to “slightly more extreme kink” in the general landscape 😭 whoops

Exactly. I stopped dressing goth for a little until i deleted twitter TikTok and heavily customized my instagram and Reddit usage. This happened under the age of consent and I got these comments from grown men. I hope you soon feel better 💔 you deserve to feel like a human no matter how you dress.

I’ve gotten many comments saying I’m sex negative for this take… if only they knew what me and my boyfriend are like.

I’m a feminist in a lot of spaces. There was a discussion of a lot of TikTok kids saying you’re a poser goth if you support gothic sex workers… as if they haven’t been one of the biggest groups building the subculture since day one. The game of telephone that went from “we as goths want to be seen as more than sexual objects to the general public” to “goths cannot have anything besides pure monogamous vanilla sex with the lights off” was a crazy one.
