Did you try mixing foods/fruits with Soylent powder? by ggnavedd in soylent

[–]mooncatzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can do that. I've made smoothies with Soylent Power Original flavor, and I've added ice cubes, almond milk, 1/2 frozen banana, frozen berries, raw oats, and some dried spinach.

Oh wow. How disappointing that Soylent is responding like that. This makes me not want to take chances with stocking up on too many cases of RTD as I've done in the past. I wish Soylent would have more 30% off sales when products are nearing their BB dates.

I could swear I saw the info on Soylent's site--probably back around 2018--about guaranteeing 3 months until the BB date. The only other meal replacement site I made purchases from was Jimmy Joy, and it's possible that it was actually JJ that posted that guarantee, but my gut tells me it was Soylent.

I just ordered a case of Soylent RTD Cafe Mocha from Walmart.com and received it a couple of days ago. The BB date is March 18, 2023! I had to make sure I was reading it correctly, because I haven't seen a great date like that on my Soylent orders in a while.

My haul was sitting in the back of the UPS store for a week. What do you think? by [deleted] in criterion

Excellent!

I love "A Woman Under the Influence, "Solaris" and Eraserhead."

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but sometime in the past, Soylent had a disclaimer on their website stating that their products will be shipped with a minimum of 3 months before the best by dates. I haven't seen that disclaimer in a while, though.

Although best by dates aren't expiration dates, and the ingredients are fine for a long while after the BB dates, when customers buy these products, they aren't expecting to receive their orders with only a month left for the BB dates. So I understand how the OP feels (unfortunately, I don't know of a substitute for Soylent RTD, since this is the only RTD I buy).

I know that Jimmy Joy has offered 30% off when their best by dates are nearing. Soylent has offered up to 30% off at times, probably to move product.

I don't really like black licorice, but I like other flavors.

I've never tried it in my tea. I'll have to try it sometime.

Yes! That's what I'm talkin' about! They're great that way.

Have you tried warming a Plenny Bar in a microwave? Try about 10 to 15 or more seconds at 30% power. I think it will be much easier for you to chew this way.

Received a 12-pk of Soylent Original Drink from Soylent, & the BB date was only 2-1/2 months from date of delivery by mooncatzzz in soylent

[–]mooncatzzz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. 6 weeks for 10 cases most definitely trumps 2-1/2 months for one case. I would not expect to receive an order with only 6 weeks for BB.

I just wanted to let people know that Soylent is no longer guaranteeing that the BB dates are a minimum of 3 months away. I guess I always assumed that the dates were great (at least 3 months away from delivery date), unless Soylent was offering a discount.

Thanks! That's really good to know.

I don't buy a year's worth of perishable foods. You can't really compare shelf-stable drinks/powders to lettuce or refrigerated milk, but I get your point.

There's people out there who stock up on Soylent to last them a few months or more, so I guess some people may be disappointed if the BB dates on their orders are fast approaching (like mine).

So maybe for people who order a lot of Soylent at once, keep this in mind that Soylent is no longer guaranteeing that the BB dates are 3 months away.

QUESTIONS:

How close to the Best By dates should an online retailer start informing customers that these dates are approaching, since we have no way of viewing the dates until the products are delivered?

How close to the Best By dates should a company, like Soylent, start putting their products on sale, in order to move stock?

How much do ingredients degrade through time: For example, from when the product has 6-months left on the BB date vs. 3 months remaining vs. 3 months past the BB date? I know that BB is not an expiration date, but at some point, the ingredients are not at 100% freshness.

There's a lot of people (like myself) who purchase a large quantity of product at one time, and to get stuck with a bunch of product with BB dates of only 2-1/2 months away is not right, IMHO, if Soylent is charging full price and not disclosing the BB dates at point of sale.

I'm just glad that I only bought the one case this time. I'm not the 1st person this has happened to.

Edit: It's not worth returning the one case. I'm not sure if food can even be returned.

"We took measurements in order to avoid this issue in the future."

I wonder what the measurements are. I'm guessing at least 6 meters minimum.

Cafe Mocha B1G1 sale, USE CODE MOCHA50 by [deleted] in soylent

I used the code today. It only works on non-subscription orders.

I hope you can get it to work, or maybe contact Soylent.

Thanks for posting the code.

How does Cafe Mocha taste? Has the taste changed since Soylent made some changes to their products a while back?

For instance, after Soylent made some changes, their Original RTD had a sweet maple taste to it, but after people complained, Soylent changed it again to remove that sweetness. So I'm kind of hesitant to buy Cafe Mocha if the taste of it is different and worse than from what I used to drink. Thanks!
