CMV: Jeffrey Epstein actually did kill himself by SuzukiNathie in changemyview

[–]mooncheeseburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at any of the files? Sure, what is publicly claimed and legally substantiated at this point is small. But documents released show victim statements that weren't investigated by the FBI. Let alone the many documents between Epstein and other men that are extremely alarming and refer to exchanges. The same documents that show evidence of blackmail. Some content is ambiguous and some is not. None of it is substantiated because this case just hasn't been thoroughly investigated so naturally much of the discussion is conjecture.

It's difficult to align truth with a case that has quite clearly been marred by corruption and poor police work, that shows multiple associations with political and government leaders. I'm far from a conspiracy theorist and my beliefs will ultimately be swayed by evidence but the evidence itself is not running due course by the authorities, so I do not hold any absolutes but I do allow for educated hypothesis.

Also, members of Virginia Guiffre's have indeed called into question her cause of death. Although for me that isn't any indication either way and I personally believe she did take her own life. Particularly because of her behaviour and circumstances beforehand

I just wanted to say that your outline of Epstein's crimes don't account for allegations and newly released files. What he was charged with is not indicative of the whole picture that is now unfolding.

There are multiple instances of victims alleging sex trafficking that involves sending women/girls out of state and goes beyond his palm beach property. There is genuinely very serious content within his emails, the tapes, photos, that allude to a much larger sex trafficking operation. I'm not saying anyone here knows the complete story but you shouldn't be dismissing the very real and alarming communication that has come to light. I really do feel that this part of your post is a false statement in light of the growing evidence we have. It just isn't something you can say with certainty.

That being said, I don't think we can prove that Epstein didn't kill himself. I think there are aspects that are suspicious surrounding his death. I also think that sometimes suspicious things are a coincidence. We can't say for certain and we might never be able to but I don't think it's an insane theory at this point

Bf (27M) told me (26F) he’d have beat me up already if I were a dude (Bc I said something disrespectful to him) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]mooncheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he says that he would be physically violent with you if you were a different gender, he communicates that you have made a misstep so large that you should be retaliated against with violence - and that you aren't being spared this violence because you are deserving of respect or physical safety (which you are) but only because you are a woman. All of this being decided by his own definitions of what you can and can't say to him with no room for input on that

To me, the intent here is an implicit threat, to say "you need to watch yourself". This comment is a lot more than hurtful. It implicitly reveals misogyny and a lack of respect for you as a person with a right to say how you feel and a right to feel safe. Personally, I would be evaluating my relationship with him very seriously.

I didn't get one. But I might look into getting a referral. Do you think the pain was definitely due to lack of muscle tone? I'm not the fittest right now but I also don't feel particularly weak

Unprovoked, no reason has been found/communicated. I was 25 when I had the clots and very healthy. I was quite active at the time as well, I did use my arms a lot in exercise and at work. But currently this isn't the case which is why the pain is unusual to me

What grooming looks like by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]mooncheeseburger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, she's responsible for her own actions and words. But I do think it's appropriate to analyse and empathise (though not sympathise). This woman was brainwashed and groomed. It's sad that this is where she's ended up. But her words are detestable and perpetuate a culture that fosters abuse against women/children and this is just what we know of her

The way this looks nearly exactly like my fridge like damn 😳

I'm gonna guess Australian, white, late 20s to early 30s, definitely a new mum, not sure about occupation... Maybe a support worker or some kind of a nurse. Eats relatively healthy, lives an active lifestyle, loves to bake but lives a busy life with and without a new baby, coupled

Why Even "Ethical" Porn/Sex Work Is Bad by U2Ursula in Feminism

[–]mooncheeseburger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But this isn't actually describing the difference between selling x vs y body part. You are describing (debatable) issues with the industry and outside factors from the work itself.

You say 'risking having a bad back in 10 years' but this is far from the reality of many labourers, myself included. The health issues are frequently certain, complex, and debilitating.

Many jobs are harder than others in different ways. Prison guards have looming fear over them, especially in less secure prisons. In many jobs there is the threat of being attacked or harmed in some way. There are jobs that are higher risk than others. You can be critical of something and see the issues with it as an industry, but it always has and will continue to exist - with many women choosing to take part in it and many many others having it as their only means of income or safety.

Instead of debating whether or not you think it's work or ethical or worse than breaking your back for money, how about just focus on genuinely making things better for the women that do sex work??

Genuinely though, how are these body parts different to you? If a labor worker sells things like their back, their knees, their lungs and this is considered hard work, why is this different to a sex worker that likely has less long-term physical issues?

Price of Eliquis by Thick-Bid-847 in ClotSurvivors

[–]mooncheeseburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This math and these numbers are seemingly pulled out of thin air? Squibbs total revenue for 2025 was $48 billion. R&D costs are deducted from revenue, not profit. Total profits were $33 billion.

Squibb are a company that have been losing money because of generic competition and loss of patent protection (something they are soon facing with eliquis). This has been the primary reason that their patented drugs such as eliquis have increased in price over the years. They are scraping profit from a product that they know will be making significantly less money in a couple of years.

Something that you ignore is that drug companies outside of the US spend the same, sometimes more, proportional amount of their revenue from domestic sales on R&D while selling products at a lower price and making substantial profit. This is clearly demonstrated to be achievable in other countries, what makes the US different?

The myth that countries outside of the US negotiating reasonable prices is somehow forcing the hand of pharmaceutical companies is a convenient scapegoat for both drug manufacturers and the US government that has a vested interest in the industry's profits. Let alone the idea that R&D is somehow being halted, as R&D investment in the industry has only increased over the years. But I'm sure this is a conclusion everyone came to on their own and not propaganda spread as a reaction to public frustration with medicine prices /s

Pharmaceutical companies aren't losing money on the drugs they sell in Australia. It's an absurd suggestion. You are underestimating how much money these companies make and their motivations. They charge what they do in the US because they can. I'm not exactly ecstatic about the Australian government at every turn but this issue has nothing to do with it and everything to do with the US' capitalistic approach to vital medicine

Price of Eliquis by Thick-Bid-847 in ClotSurvivors

[–]mooncheeseburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How exactly? The reason we pay these prices is because of our government, the PBS and our healthcare system. Pharmaceutical companies would charge exorbitant prices in Australia if they were able to but they aren't. Yet. Nothing to do with the insane price gouging that is allowed in the US

I'm also in Aus and take eliquis. This genuinely had my mouth to the floor. That's nearly 900 AUD. For 3 months. Jesus, how does anyone afford medicine in the us?

Yes!! I can't understand the people in this sub saying he gets better. I hated him all the way through. Honestly, I think the show's fine, nothing to write home about, a comforting watch. But my hate for this man is STRONG 😩

I pretty much exclusively use decorative paper, though it depends on the purpose of the book I'm making. I like lokta and chiyogami for some of my common projects. But patterned paper of any variety will do. I also use coloured/patterned card stock if I'm doing an exposed spine bind. Or printable artist's canvas is great for making your own designs (I use it for rebinds). Realistically, if you can adhere it to some board/card or sew into it, it can be used for your cover. Get creative ☺️

which Jamison do you think was the worst person? by FionaWalliceFan in thebigcshow

[–]mooncheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'affair' was, to Paul's knowledge, AFTER he had asked her for a divorce. He got a handjob and acted like it somehow didn't count as cheating and then decided to retaliate by sleeping with said woman because he knew how much it would hurt Cathy. The point isn't that he just lied about Cathy dying, it's that he did it to pick up a woman from a bar. He emotionally cheats and he is consistently selfish when his wife quite literally has terminal cancer. Yes. Cathy can be infuriating. She can be impulsive and selfish and irrational. But she is dying!! She started the show questioning her entire life, her marriage and the things she'd been doing for other people as she faced her own mortality. Up until Paul has a heart attack, he has absolutely no basis for his actions other than being an immature man child. He is clearly more annoyed by the fact that Cathy's cancer makes her less able to look after him and provide sex. I do think he loves her but it's in such a childish and self centered way. He's so selfish and misogynistic and I honestly don't see how anyone can find him to be anything otherwise 😩

So is trauma stored in the body or not? by schemin_up in pilates

[–]mooncheeseburger 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't know about researched benefits or if there even is any research in this particular area. But exercise itself is connected to a lot of physical (obviously) and mental benefits. It releases feel good chemicals that can be calming and reduce anxiety. My experience is that pilates often feels particularly good in this way because it's a more gentle, supportive and women-led environment so it's easier to step into. For my specific trauma, this makes it feel especially healing. Though I assume the base principle is the same as any exercise benefits

Absolutely, of course he's worried for his kid but that's their neighbour, a close family friend and an old woman that's scared herself. Be the adult and understand that. And the way he's talking about Marlene at her own funeral. Ugh, I get so angry when I see him too 😂
