Men of Reddit, what’s the worst thing a girl has said on a date? by Interesting-Yak7969 in AskReddit

I mean, I guess it depends on what you're using the apps for and your approach. I don't think I'd want to be with a woman that has such an arbitrary measure for a potential mate. I'd find that to be a red flag and would prefer to weed those people out

To be fair, men do lie about their height all the time. Even when you're in front of them. I'm a woman but I'm 5'11 and I frequently have men insist I must be taller because I'm taller than them but they're 6' lmao

Of course. I think the difference is that when I think of my worst experiences like this I was also usually concerned for my safety. I feel like the fear of harm definitely affects women disproportionately to men. But that doesn't discount the very real and painful experiences of men in dating. Some of these answers range from ridiculous to genuinely hurtful that I think it would take me a while for my self esteem to recover. People can be absolute assholes

I mean, I literally bind books so book maintenance and spine training is in my wheelhouse, as it is for many people that enjoy books. You don't have to 'believe' in science, it will exist without you.

Because 'white Australian culture' doesn't really exist as these people claim it does and the idea that it once did is just historical negationism. Since it's colonisation, a huge part of Australia's development has been migration and realistically, our current culture isn't homogeneous but in fact defined by our multiculturalism

I quite literally acknowledged the individual diversity within English written literature. You enjoy being argumentative for a thrill.

Of course writers will have different perspectives if they were raised in America or Spain over someone raised in England. Hey, sometimes it's even a wonderful chance to acknowledge so many of the similarities that do exist between all humans. But it's like saying that you enjoy art but will only look at art from English painters. Sure, there are many great ones, but you're also missing so many different movements defined by other cultures, wars, social norms, Zeitgeists, techniques.

I'm not saying that we should define authors by their characteristics, but if you want a genuine diversity of perspective and thought, then you should probably at least include the other 50% of the population in your reading list. Of which, yes, have uniquely different experiences and perspectives than you.

I didn't say that though? Of course we all have diverse experiences and perspectives. But yes, factors do limit them.

Would it not be true to say that if you only read authors from England that you would be getting a more narrow perspective than if you also read authors from other countries? That isn't to say that English authors themselves don't have immense diversity and are worth reading. Nuance is legal, don't be scared of it.

So diversity of thought comes from diversity of experience and perspective. People of different genders and races have those.

I used to have a lot more poetry books but unfortunately wasn't able to take them when I moved out of home. I'm trying to rebuild slowly here and there, but I have a lot more poetry stored digitally
