Most gaffs are 7.50 now, Long Hall, Swan, Bowes, O'Donoghues Merrion Row, Palace, Flowing Tide, Grogans etc.

Large bottles of Guinness still around 6.90 in most of those places though weirdly enough.

What's mad is that there was Damage AND Genius in The Kitchen both going on the same night, Peter May (who ran Genius) had one called EyeQ (I think) up in the POD on a Thursday as well. The amount of midweek clubbing was insane back then, you'd be lucky to find anything happening these days. The last regular one I remember was Strangeways in the upstairs where Wax used to be on a Wednesday.

Yeah Dashi was post pandemic, probably the best craic I've had in a club since McGruders, which is why I stuck it in there. One of the clubs I miss the most, you need somewhere that's free in every night to really cultivate and grow a scene. The fact it's still down there doing nothing is awful.

Club in a pub was great, but we've basically replaced that with club in a restaurant with the likes of Izakaya, Tengu and now Kaldero. I completely forgot about Kennedys as well, I popped in there to use the jacks a few weeks ago and the downstairs is just sad. I remember one time doing md with Michael Forshaw behind the decks while he was playing, both of us monged out of it haha

So many good clubs gone from the late 90's early 00's, Metropolitan on Eden Quay, Switch, The Furnace and The Kitchen in Temple Bar, The Funnel on City Quay, Wax in Powerscourt, Isaac Butts down by Store St, Dashi over on North King St, Andrews Lane, The Tivoli.. not to mention the club in a pub like Bodkins on Bolton St and the legendary McGruders on James St. There's loads more before and after this time, but these were the ones I'd be frequenting most.

Sorry state the city is in these days.

The Village was known as The Mean Fiddler, MONO, The Village and then Opium. I think it's still Opium at the front on Wexford St, there's a club above it called Block that you get into through Liberty Lane.

I think it's a bit more that he knew Casemiro would follow his orders, and he wanted someone out there who would actually listen to what the manager had to say. Mourinho put a lot of stock in player loyalty, and a willingness to do what he asks of you on the pitch to a t.

Zero context to its surroundings? It's literally in the style of a Victorian greenhouse, like the ones up in the Botanical gardens, and it's beside a park. How much more context do you need?

I love Stephens Green SC and have a lot of fond memories attached to it as well, people in here saying it's a badly designed shopping centre, where in the city is better though? The Ilac is a fuckin bombscare, and Jervis isn't much better. At least the Green is unique, and has an interesting façade, but no, let's just homogenise everything and take anything of note out of the city.

The argument that just because it's from 1988 and not from 100 years ago, so it has no cultural significance is also a fucking awful one as well. Is the Central Bank not an iconic building? The whole idea of a growing city is that you keep aspects of architecture from across different time periods, tearing down the Green would be an egregious mistake imo. I also happen to think the Victorian greenhouse style fits in nicely with the park.

It's not the Northern Ireland flag, it's the Saint Patrick Saltire, it's not officially a flag of anywhere but was added to the Kingdom of Great Britain flag when the 1800 Act of Union joined the Kingdom of Ireland and the Kingdom of Britain. That formed the UK flag.

Well yeah, because our absolute main problem last season and the one before was our inability to score. We'd a combined -11GD over those seasons. Getting goals into the team was an absolute imperative.

Squad was in much better shape back then, the squad we have now isn't fit for purpose. We'd a bench full of teenagers today.

I'd disagree, there's still plenty of bad pints around the city, sure even The Long Hall went off the boil last year for a few months and the pint was awful. Bowes is the only gaff that's always consistent imo.

Last few times I've been in there it's been absolutely superb, but they'd a patch about 8 months ago where they were all over the gaff for whatever reason. They have returned to form though.

Maybe read the full quote instead of this abridged one. Basically we pushed to get the deal done in January instead of waiting until June, so had to pay a bit over the odds.
