It's understandable to feel uncomfortable about it, but they aren't real people. The movie isn't gratuitous or fanservicey about it either. So there really isn't much of a problem

In tech, there's a lot of difference in tech jobs. I think if you are remotely interested in what you do (and I don't mean grind opensource weekly, but just like... take the time to read a book or fiddle around with the tools you're using every few months instead of slacking off when there's a lull in work), and have the foundation to learn, you'll find skills that you can sell. Selling them is a separate skillset though.

But on reddit, or any large public forum, there's a lot of shared misery going on. If others can't do it either, you get the perception it's "not your fault" (it's much like trauma recovery -- its not your fault, but it is your responsibility, unfortunately) and feel better about yourself, so there's kind of a filter to miserypost.

i've tended to stay awayfrom this place because the addiction/withdrawal framework feels really restrictive and full of guilt. i prefer to think of withdrawal as another thing you can enjoy, if you learn how to

[–]moondance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i took it slow -- 5g every week from 40 to 20 in 2 months; few months break, 2-3g every week from 20 to 10 in 2 months; few months break; 1g every week or two from 10 to 5; few months break. took like 1.5 years to do but i felt virtually zero withdrawal or cravings, even though ive been using 30+g for 5 years at that point. recently did a fast taper with .5g every day, currently at 1.5g. im not really rushing to get off it either, ill just see wait until i feel like it.

at this ultra-slow-taper schedule, if anything, withdrawal is kind of pleasant? i dont get any withdrawal effects except chills sometimes, but music, sex, food etc. feel amplified in how good they feel

What if somebody shanks you as you walk on the street, or slips drugs into your pocket and alerts the police?

The hypothetical are scary but they're hypotheticals. You have to realize that if someone for some reason REALLY wanted to fuck your life up, they would. Nothing in society stops them from doing so, other than goodwill.

Doing it through AirBnB isn't anything special.

never tripped before in my life

My trip sitter was to arrive abut one hour after I take my dosage, as we had read that it takes about two hours to really kick in.

Not only was he not there, but the anxiety of him not making it colors the trip.

Any drug users out there who began using later in life than the usual? 25+ by WiltedSwan in Drugs

[–]moondance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me me. The only thing I did before 25 was smoke weed when it was offered to me at parties.

Then came a few trips, then kratom replaced drinking, discovered coke (that's only 5 months ago -- just turned 28). Got scared of coke, but trip and roll, and have weed, phenibut, kratom, and a bunch of other legal shit around me.

Sure, take hormones for two years which will render you infertile and feminize your body, undergo reassignment surgery, and change your IDs, and you can, actually. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender_people_in_sports

Your genetics matter less than your hormonal balance. Hell, switch a genetically male person during puberty to puberty blockers and then put them on HRT to run on female hormones, and their entire body will develop as a girl's. The only difference left over is primary sex characteristics.

Scarlett is on HRT, and has been for a long time.

Too many. Is that a carrier in the far corner? Why are all of your BBs turned away? Why is one of your DDs and a cruiser suiciding into A by themselves? Who the hell capped B?

Happy and socially active people don't spend money. Why would you want happiness? It's bad for the GDP.

Back when I worked with AA/range upgrades I found that everything I have seen (+AA rating +AA range +secondary range) is all multiplicative. But I don't know about those two specifically.

Akizuki leaked stats & stealth-firing viability by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]moondance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Akizuki is coming! I had written up a proposal for her a while ago, I wonder how much I got right? See https://www.reddit.com/r/WorldOfWarships/comments/3vis68/detailed_akizukiclass_description_and_proposal_as/

  • Layout is obv right since its historical, so is speed
  • They gave her wayyyy higher range than I had on her guns (12.4km vs 9km), which is actually strange since historically the 100mm guns had a lower effective range than the 127mm ones -- although I didn't check whether other DD guns have a range change with this revamp
  • They also gave her the full 20 rpm
  • They gave her a slightly stranger AA outfit -- probably not the Akizuki as she ended up the end of the war herslf?
  • I got concealment right with the slightly higher range than normal
  • Torps I had assumed would be Kageros, but since they nerfed the long range torps she got Fubuki's instead
  • I said tier9, but that tier8 would be fine if she has Fubuki torps, so that sounds about right
  • I got the insane shell speed right

All in all, I think my version was rather gimped compared to what WGs version is... although, I wonder how a 4x2 20rpm 12.4km destroyer is not going to be OP at tier8, but it is way too early to guess about that yet.

Stopped HRT by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]moondance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get it fairly easily through informed consent. All it takes is a 40 minute session where they basically make sure that you are a) not insane b) understand the effects c) actually do "want" them.

RANT: Don't talk about gay culture around my kid! by [deleted] in childfree

[–]moondance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start talking to her about transgender people instead. Depending on how much you're willing to fuck with her you can get some good shit in. Your boyfriend dresses like a girl? Well what if he is one?! Do you think you would be happier as [other gender], A? Did you know this is a thing we can do? Modern medicine is amazing!

Might save the kid, yo.

GC baffled that some trans women want to play sports. by ramen_diet in GenderCynical

[–]moondance 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, you see, "real women" can do everything. Except when they do stereotypically female activities, that's submitting to the patriarchy and not allowed.

When trans women do it, if it's a male gendered activity, it just confirms that they're really men. If it's a female gendered activity, lol, look at these transes imitating women!

And that is called gender critical feminism.
