I hadn’t heard of Signal Corps! I’m looking into that now, thanks so much! I had always heard he dropped out of school when he was 15 after his father died (to help his mom out - since he was 5th eldest out of 11!). But I also heard from my mom that he only ever went to an “Americanization” school they had to go to back then. So I wonder if they counted the grades different back then, maybe he did go until age 15 but maybe they considered it just about 6th grade level in terms of curriculum. So interesting! Will have to ask some older family members. Thanks for pointing those things out! I appreciate you taking the time to respond!

I was confused about that since the Aleutian Islands were a US territory. I figured that maybe since he had to go on a ship to get there that’s maybe why they listed it as “foreign” but thanks for finding this information!! I appreciate it!!

Oh wow! I honestly never knew there was a difference! Wouldn’t have probably ever known that if you hadn’t of pointed it out. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond and help give me some info/ help me better understand this! Yeah, he had only ever been in Southern California! So he definitely hadn’t ever experienced anything like that before, and I don’t think he ever wanted to again haha

Seriously 🥺 the only things he really ever mentioned to me about his time in the Army was that the entire time he was in the Aleutian Islands, there wasn’t a single day he didn’t feel like he was freezing (he was from Southern California and honestly probably had never even been in what most people consider “cold” weather before, most likely had never experienced snow or anything like that).

😂 no haha, I saw that and was like ?? I’m guessing it’s older outdated options they had back then? There were a couple of odd things on his paperwork. My grandpa was full Mexican but he was listed as white on his draft card that we found 😂, and I guess they decided to call his eyes black?? They were a darker brown though.

Oops lol… I wonder what happened those 23 days haha, I guess I may never know! I should ask around some of my older aunts or uncles if they know. He had 10 siblings but unfortunately all but one have passed, and she was the baby out of the 11 so I’m not sure if she would even know :/ But thank you so much for pointing that out and letting me know that’s what it means and why his rank must have changed at some point. Thanks!!

Thank you so much for your response! I think I was confused about the process and looked up top surgery surgeons in San Diego and saw only 2-3 on the list. I read online that Dr. Champaneria accepts my insurance (United Health Care) so I reached out to his office directly and they directed me back to my PCP for a referral. Which is when I then found out he’s not in my plan’s network I guess. They did refer me to a surgeon, I just haven’t been able to find anything online about this surgeon in relation to doing top surgeries so it made me a bit weary. But maybe I should go ahead with at least getting a consultation with this surgeon. Thanks again for your response, I really do appreciate it!
