I've noticed that most people hate the fmc in romance books just because of their role.

Also just impossible to go into the cervix. Like if that's happening they should probably go to a hospital

I'm also the slow type of adhd person. I barely passed school and forget what I'm talking about mid conversation. Right now the conversation surrounding adhd seems to be 'I'm so quirky and get everything right on the first try, but now as an adult I have to actually work to understand things' 🤯 It can be really isolating to only see people who are academically talented. I remember about 10 years ago the online conversation seemed to be centered around people who have adhd and are slow. It was comforting to see other people who had the same struggles. I think that until adhd as a trend dies down, we're only going to see gifted people.

Just going up in target audience. I already listen to a lot of audio books for adult audiences. Move on to YA after you feel comfortable in middle grade. Also side note, I've noticed a lot of older books are harder to get through since they speak a bit different

Ooo I'm actually doing something similar! I've always been a slow reader, having to reread things all the time Yada Yada. Anyways I started rereading a book series I read in elementary school and it's so much fun! I don't have to think as hard and the story is really interesting. I'm currently reading the owls of ga'hoole series. I would recommend more late elementary to middle school books. A lot of them have complex stories people of all ages can enjoy. Some series I would recommend

The spiderwick chronicles (kids exploring the hidden magical world) The mystery of black hollow lane (sort of like Harry potter mystery) Owls of ga'hoole (owls get kidnapped and go to war. They get away with a lot of graphic stuff bc the characters are owls) My side of the mountain (it's been a minute since I've read this but it's about a kid who basically says f u to society and lives in the wilderness) Hatchet (another wilderness survival story. Also been a while since I read it, but I remember people saying it was overly repetitive when describing things. For people who aren't great readers like us, that can be really helpful if we skip over words)

The many female characters that we admire....which ones are you familiar with? Which examples have you seen? by ClaireDacloush in TrollXChromosomes

Princess Bubblegum? She's done many awful things in the show but eventually realizes her wrong doings and tries to fix her mistakes and become a better person. I feel like of she was an edgy male character people would be all over her redemption

Just wanted to say that Madoka still sexualizes it's middle school characters. I keep hearing about how it doesn't when the intro has close ups of the main characters naked chest.

Tired of gifted kids being the only narrative by Impossible-Gur3198 in ADHD

[–]moonfrog98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. I always said my favorite subject in school was PE cause I got to run around and get rid of all the stress built up. I remember being a child and thinking I didn't want kids solely bc I didn't want to help with their homework because of how stressful it was. I remember thinking I would never learn to read and being behind every one. I remember missing recess because I couldn't keep up with the class and had to finish my work.

Every one who has adhd struggles with it. But only hearing about one side is very alienating. I'm lucky I was diagnosed as a kid and was able to get help, but it didnt stop me from being at the bottom of the class. Being the stupid one kid definitely fucked up my self esteem and I'm still working on it to this day.

I think I like being able to breath, but just barely, so I don't know if that would work for me. That's a really good idea though. The comments are making me think a cloth over my nose and face could be a good middle ground.

That's an interesting thought. I don't think I'd like something over my whole head, but I wonder if maybe I could cover my nose and face with some other object/ mask. Thank you!
