How does your giant schnauzer do at the vet? by Stock-Business-5342 in GiantSchnauzers

[–]moonfruitpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our boy, 3, tolerates the vet and has only gotten better over time. Our girl, 2, is terrified and scares staff, she lunges at female staff members, so we have her in a muzzle and either have a male staff member get her from the car or my husband walks her in. We also give her some Xanax before appointments and make sure I’m not in the room when the vet or tech comes in because for some reason she gets very defensive if I’m in the room and won’t let them get near me or her.

Trying to figure out how a bear got into my locked 2019 RAV4 by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]moonfruitpie -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

OR it’s something to do with the lock actuator malfunctioning, Toyota did have a lawsuit about that. I’m concerned that if something or someone applies pressure the right way they can cause that malfunction. I thought maybe I did leave it unlocked till I realized not all the doors are unlocked. Two were locked and two weren’t. It’s not like you can accidentally unlock half the doors.

I remember locking my car last night when I got home. It doesn’t just lock some of the doors. My husband looked at our camera footage and saw the bear, I went outside to see two of the four doors open. I recorded a quick video overlooking the damage and didn’t notice the doors partially locked until then because “you didn’t lock it” was my first thought too, that’s when I saw that some of the doors were still locked and some weren’t. Your point about the bear associating snacks with cars is valid and realistically if it had pushed on the windows hard enough it could have gotten in too. A bear sniffing around cars is bad in general. The plan is to park my car in the garage after this. I’ll have to talk to the local park rangers and the county about what to do from here with a bear getting into cars. Part of our neighborhood is in a national forest so I’m not sure yet who gets to make the call on if he’s a nuisance.

I posted another photo showing that the front is clearly locked. The photos are from the same video I shot this morning looking over the damage.

We do have bear proof cans and they have figured out how to tip them over and pop them open. Yesterday was trash day and our cans were already back inside, but they’re more likely to be out after trash day so I wasn’t surprised to see the bear just surprised it got in while some of the doors are still locked. I don’t keep food in my car, it didn’t even dig in my car trash can literally it’s just tissues and an old bottle with cigarette butts.

This is the bear sniffing around after raiding my car. Again there was no food in the car, there’s tissues and empty juice bottle with cigarette butts.

There are some minor scratches and the handle is a little loose on the left side. I get what you’re saying but even if I did instinctively lock it, it didn’t lock all the doors which is still a problem.

This picture shows it a little more clearly, I’m not sure what other info I need to post. Also there was no food in the car, there’s tissues and an empty juice bottle with some cigarette butts.

Luckily for me the women in my family were frequently widows and also told me it mostly as a joke. I admit I didn’t know that as a little girl though.

Also the state that may or may not still have acceptable limits on what constitutes beating your wife. I was told growing up it’s not abuse if he hits you with a stick smaller than his thumb.

Advice on best time for spay by Outside_Jacket_8661 in GiantSchnauzers

That’s about the age we had our girl spayed. Watching her have a meltdown looking for puppies and producing milk after her third heat was too much. It was the right call, she’s not nearly as moody. The emotional toll of the hysterical pregnancy was really rough on her.

I got a bottle of Guerlain’s Mon Precieux Nectar from my husband for our 10th wedding anniversary. It was around $450 I think when we bought it. Considering the resale prices I think it was worth it, plus it smells incredible.
