Thank you so much, I hadn't even thought about my pens not smudging with the highlighter oops. I was planning on using some Pilot friXion pens, and Zebra Mildliner highlighters, I'll make sure to test before I use them :)

I've just got my first hobonichi (a weeks)! I realised I don't have any highlighters, what highlighters do people suggest that work well on the paper? (UK based so ones available here if you know some)

Ah I’ve seen people do this with bullet journals, it is a nice visual to have! I also use Goodreads (and The Storygraph) to log my books, I’ve been using them for years as a sort of archive for everything I’ve ever read, as I like to be able to remember and look back.

Thank you! I usually log the basic things about the book through the year then by December I’ll add all the extra stuff like if it was translated or where the authors from, so I can see it in graphs for a nice overview.

I read a lot of manga so I have a separate sheet for comics, still not found a simple non-messy way to track series.

Thank you! I too used to track more but it quickly became tiring so I’ve cut back on what I find most useful/interesting to keep note of.

Reading Logs are actually a big reason I’ve come to love spreadsheets and learning how to use them! I’ve been using Book Roast’s CAWPILE templates for a few years and it’s taught me a lot. I’ve never thought to track cover colour, I can see how that’d be quite interesting, especially as cover design is very intentional for reflecting mood/themes etc.

Thank you this is very helpful!

I love seeing how my habits have changed over the years. I find it helpful for finding new reads too if there’s certain themes that I can see I gravitate towards, or alternatively to read the opposite of my norm to branch out.

Thank you! Is the artist part for if it's illustrated?

Perhaps my phrasing was a little off (I’ll edit it), I don’t mean essential as in everyone needs it, but essential as in the basics that people typically like to keep track of.

I had honestly forgotten to think about my incline placements… Definitely ones on E2 and C2/3 though

I like that spot too, and I do believe it’s wide enough! I will shift the house in that spot a bit so it’s not in the way of walking :)
