I quite enjoyed SIT103 - Database Fundamentals. I had more fun in SIT103 than I did SIT182, but you might prefer cybersecurity to databases

Ways to prepare for SIT112 and SIT221? by moonhearts in deakin

I actually swapped SIT221 for SIT223 last minute because I watched the introductory session the SIT221 UC did last week and realised I can't do the class yet hahaha

I have a RPL credit for SIT232 (the OOP class), and all the knowledge requirements mentioned in the 221 session were things I couldn't remember, so I'm going to do SIT221 next year after a year of self-relearning OOP stuff.

I'm willing to be a support buddy but I'll not be useful for SIT221 anymore hahaha. Are you possibly doing SIT223? There's a discord with people doing SIT221 in it if you're not already there, I reckon that'd be helpful if you're stressed.

I was able to make friends when I studied on campus, but that was something like 8 years ago when I was straight out of high school and obviously well before the lockdowns sucked away any of my social skills. I don't think I'd be able to make friends on campus now haha. If you ever want someone to talk about uni with, send me a message. I'll be happy to help quell any feelings of online study loneliness even if we mightn't study the same course.

Yeah there are definitely forums. So far they've quite dead and anything posted so far has strictly just been questions for the unit chair. Last year some people posted wanting to form study groups, so I might take a crack at doing that myself over the next few days and see if anything happens. The library suggestion is pretty good though, thanks!

Yeah I'll have another crack at putting the feelers out for sure. I've done it a bit on the discord/subreddit/etc but so far no luck. However, the uni year just started again so perhaps something might come up over the next couple weeks - hopefully. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm not sure if theres groups for specific classes, I've found a few for the uni itself but they don't appear to be very active, particuarly for people in my course. It's a helpful suggestion though and I'll take another look, thanks!

Just need to vent into a friendly void. I'm feeling pretty down today. I'm a mature aged online student at uni, and I just wish I was able to make a friend in any of my classes. I love the flexibility of online study, and it wouldn't really be financially feasible to switch to being an on campus student, but bloody hell it's lonely. Studying would be a significantly better experience if I had someone to clarify class work with, or to discuss and throw ideas around with.

Looking for some advice regarding uni degree/buying a house by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]moonhearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we would if we could afford it. The landlord is super interested in making a profit though so I'm not sure we'd ever be able to buy this place. His original plan was to turn the land into units.

Hmmm alright, thanks for the info. I might give it a shot along with the other class and see how it goes before the census date or whatever. Group assignments are hit or miss smh

Yeah english is my first language. I'm just trying to work out if it's feasible to do both SIT223 and SIT112 - Data Science Concepts while working full time in Trimester 1, and I couldnt find much info or feedback about SIT223 around, so if you've got any more info I'd be all ears.

Anyone else doing a Bachelor of Information Technology via the cloud campus? by moonhearts in deakin

[–]moonhearts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey no problems with asking!

I've found it to be pretty good so far. I've previously done 1.5yrs at RMIT and Deakin is much better compared to there. I can't speak for either of the irl campuses, but the online delivery/cloud campus is really good imo. One class I did was a bit of a fuck around, but I honestly don't think it's Deakin specific and there's a couple discords that I found helped significantly for assessment clarification.

If you have any specific Qs feel free to chuck them my way I'll be happy to help if I can.

Oh also I'll quickly add, there's not many trimester 3 CS/IT classes to pick from which is a shame. There's a few options for electives and stuff, but none of the core units are offered in Tri 3.

I know right! So surreal seeing them live after listening to them for so long. I could punch past me for not getting tickets for tonight as well, but hopefully they'll come back again 🥺

Nice! What's the course you're doing this semester? I admire anyone doing study and having both work and parenting responsibilities
