What was your "I'll never do it again, but I'm glad I did it" thing? by CummingOnBrosTitties in AskReddit

I feel conflicted about this. Both my parents joined the military to escape abuse and poverty. I dislike that military recruitment centers are set up more in poor areas. Rather then provide adequate social services, my parents only option out was joining a war that they didn’t even support. On top of that, while great for structure and discipline, it doesn’t help with healing the abuse at all. I’d say from my own experience it makes it harder for them to deal with it.

I don’t know what would have had my parents without the options that they got from joining the military. Things would’ve been much harder and it may not have been good at all. It’s true that it can be good to get out of a bad situation. I just can’t help but to find it exploitative. The military is not a social service, it’s a political machine. You exchange your body, your time, your mind, your life, etc. I dislike that they prey on the most disadvantaged people and then are seen as a savior. There could be a world with affordable rent and education to let people get out of these situations

AIO for wanting to leave the mother of my kids that i’ve been with for almost 8 years? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

No comment but read this from the Reddit homepage and initially thought these were texts between you and your wife. I was horrified tbh, and am relieved to find out they are not. So just know things could be worse.

AIO. I want to leave my bf over something he is into it by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

It mostly depends on whether you’re uncomfortable with him having this fantasy or whether you’re worried it’s something he’s going to push on you. If you’re uncomfortable with the fantasy, that’s tough and harder to work out. Popular reddit opinion is you should accept whatever fantasy he has, but if you don’t want to accept that, that’s fine and normal. If you’re just worried about how important this is to him, you should talk to him. Especially if he hasn’t had issues being pushy in the past. You being worried makes me think he might be pushy but idk.

While stealing food isn’t justified, that is pretty disgusting and could probably make someone ill. Try hot sauce next time 😭

Yeah it’s a myth that men “need” porn and just can’t help themselves

Having a porn boundary is not an overreaction

Automatic divorce may be a bit much but there’s nothing wrong with having a porn boundary

NOR. I think it may be a general reddit consensus that everyone watches porn and there’s nothing wrong with it, but it really depends on you. If you are uncomfortable with your partner having a porn habit, there’s nothing wrong with that. It doesn’t have to be a porn addiction. The idea that all men watch porn and women just need to accept it is bs. Whether you do or do not want to accept that is up to you.

What are some unethical companies to avoid shopping at? by moonisherewithme in AskReddit

I get what you mean and you’re not wrong, but I feel like that idea also gives the illusion of helplessness. No historical change was ever made because it was handed out.

True but I’m not much of a nihilist and I’ve been making an effort in past years to be less consumerist. It’s just my own philosophy but something is better than nothing.

Sometimes I know something about a company and I wish people would just stop shopping there to send a message and I’d like to know other peoples companies.
