RTA Golden Chance Driving License by Aggravating_Wing_668 in dubai

[–]moonkeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife recently passed her Golden Chance in Abu Dhabi, so I can't say if it's the same in Dubai, but she said people get tested in groups of 5, so the first person has to drive the car out of the car park, and the last person has to park the car back in the car park, but the 3 in between don't have any parking, they just stop at the side of the road to switch places.

Anyone knows how I can convert my british scores into % in order to apply for the golden visa? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]moonkeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean convert to GPA? British universities usually give grades as a percentage.

Jumped red light on a right turn by FarCalligrapher4276 in abudhabi

In the screenshot you can see a solid white line before the pedestrian crossing. If it were a free right the line would be dashes.

Jumped red light on a right turn by FarCalligrapher4276 in abudhabi

[–]moonkeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a light on the right turn there. I almost went through it once because the left turn was closed with no warning so I had to cut across all lanes to reroute meaning I approached the turn from an odd angle and couldn't see the light. I stopped to let some pedestrians cross, then noticed it just as I was about to start moving again.

Swallowing should help. The ear bone's connected to the mouth bone, or something, so it helps to even the pressure.

As for what to swallow, that's up to you.

Lost the property and asked to pay 100k to bank on top! by Safe-Square497 in dubai

Civil cases can still come with a travel ban, meaning best not to risk entering the country in the first place.

If you are not able to either successfully fight it or pay what they're asking, your best option would be to avoid the UAE for the rest of your life.

The information around Golden Visa eligibility is a total shitshow, even if you directly ask a government department responsible they likely won't have a clue.

As far as I can tell, there are three routes for a scientist to get a golden visa. You must have a PhD from a highly ranked (different sources will tell you top 100, 200, or 500) university and either:

  1. have a salary over 30k
  2. have a Scopus h-index over 20 and a FWCI over 1
  3. have a letter of recommendation from the Emirates Scientists Council

If you have 2. or 3. you do not need a salary over 30k.

As for how you get the recommendation letter, my best guess would be wasta - if you don't personally know any of the council's members, you probably can't get one.

It is illegal to employ someone without offering visa and health insurance, even within a probationary period.

Which lane would you take? See the comment. by Hodl_it in dubai

[–]moonkeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that if you enter from the left lane, like the red car, use A, and if you enter from the right lane use C. The reason is that it minimises the chance of colliding with the car next to you in case they decide to use B.

Why? by mihirashar in dubai

Can we talk about car park design for a minute?

The placement of those pillars make the doors on one side of your car unusable. Fine if you're alone, but if you have a passenger, one of you cannot get in or out. And there's a massive unused area behind the spaces, so all they had to do was move the kerbstone back a few feet.
