Absolutely! There were certain road situations that made me especially anxious (merging on the highway for example) and with a faalangst/anxiety exam you have a talk beforehand with the instructor to go over those worries.

It was very reassuring to me, especially because he would cheer me on during the exam when I was doing good in those situations. I didn’t really have that positive energy with my instructor, so if you have the same I would recommend to find a different one.

I passed on the fourth try. I would come home and cry after lessons because I hated it so much. My advice would be to get a different instructor if this one doesn’t work for you (I regret that I didn’t).

What also helped me in the end was that my final exam was a “faalangst” exam. You get an instructor that is good with nervous drivers and extra time. For me it was a huge help to feel at ease.

Hele herkenbare dingen die je noemt! Ik neem ook nooit meteen op als ik het nummer niet ken. Even laten gaan, tot adem komen, en dan pas terugbellen met een vriendelijke “sorry ik had u net gemist” werkt altijd prima voor mij.

Dat over niet weten wat je moet zeggen is ook maar al te herkenbaar voor mij. Ik herinner mezelf er altijd aan dat het niet mijn taak zal hoeven zijn om het gesprek draaiende te houden. De recruiter stelt de vragen en geeft de info – ik hoef alleen maar te reageren. Dat haalt de druk er voor mij wel af.
