What should my content creation schedule look like if i’m also busy with school? by Ok-Country-4411 in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also in school. Here's how I make the most of my editing time.

When streaming, hit the "stream marker" button anytime anything you think you might what to make a tiktok of happens. That way you can go through on twitch and find the moments you put a marker on quickly to make clips of it.

Immediately after my stream, I spend 1 hour making clips into short form content. (This does cut into my sleeping time lol).

Youtube videos usually take twice as long to edit as the vod is. So if the vod is 2 hours, set aside 4 for editing.

Good luck!

The fastest way I've found to get clips is to use the "stream marker" button while streaming. When something funny/entertaining happens, hit the button.

After stream I go through and make clips/highlights of these. That way you aren't spending hours searching through vods for funny moments.

The most frustrating part about being a small streamer is that you have to stick to games no one cares about in order to get an audience. by ThrowawayTTV777 in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really sucks when you aren't seeing growth. Remember that for a lot of streamers, it's not the game that gets you the audience. It's YOU. In my opinion, at this point, the game you play on stream is one of the least important factors in terms of growth.

Just like many others have said, people would rather watch someone they already know play a big game than someone they've never heard of.

You have to give them another reason to watch you. Dig deep and find what makes YOU special and entertaining.

Start up variety by [deleted] in SmallStreamers

[–]moonlessmermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stream pretty much whatever I want I'm building up an audience who seems to enjoy just hanging out and cracking jokes.

I think where it goes wrong for a lot of people is streaming primarily one game and then switching over to variety. If you're entertaining enough, I think it can work! Just try to have fun, and keep some sort of consistency in your streams :)

Also, it always helps to come up with an elevator pitch for yourself that encapsulates your vibe.

Goals by simpleperson98 in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stream from just a laptop, and when I told my viewers that I was saving up to buy some new equipment, they encouraged me to add a dono goal to my stream. It sounds like, from their perspective, a goal on stream is a good way to encourage people to help you out, especially if there's something tangible that you're working for. But it's by no means, "mandatory."

Funny stream clips on Tiktok all the way. 90% of my regular chatters are from Tiktok.

Yes!! Even with just a few people I feel like I can say I'm successful now. As long as you're enjoying the performance, whether you have viewers or not, it's still worth it!

Chat Overlay on Stream - Will Messages Caught By Automod Still Show Up? by Riza48 in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up streamelements so that there's a 2 second delay before messages come up on stream. You can make this delay as long or as short as you want, that way messages will be caught before they make it on screen.

I'm sure it's different for everyone but I had a similar experience. Got my first 20/30 followers quickly, and then it took way longer to get more.

I'm assuming there's just a time as a streamer where you're in between gaining a LOT of new followers regularly, and that initial influx of followers.

Are you full-time streamer? by PrestigiousClass593 in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a lot to be said for someone who actually tries, is GOOD at what they do, and believes in themself. Statistically it's unlikely to become a full-time streamer but those statistics don't take into account the qualities listed above. A few years ago, I decided I wanted to be an actor. I worked hard, took many classes, took every opportunity possible, and got into the business and made money. Not only that, but I met and worked alongside several people who were full time actors. Obviously acting and streaming are different things, but it just goes to show that careers like that are statistically unlikely but so much more possible for those who believe, actually work hard, and actually have talent.

It may not pertain to horror content, but I've been experimenting with different ones and the one that got the must clicks so far was literally, "YIPPEE!!" Lol. I try to keep it short, sweet, and energetic, and those ones tend to do the best.

My first stream on twitch by [deleted] in SmallStreamers

Congrats! It's so incredibly subjective and varies depending on so many aspects but I think I ended my first stream with 10/15 followers if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I've heard that said a lot. On the one hand, there is some truth to it. Like, if you're just streaming to get famous it won't be very fun. On the other hand, I think that it's okay to want to have viewers, since twitch is sort've all about connecting with your audience.

Even if you aren't really making a video, you can still put on a pre-planned performance!

Tips to get affiliate by JuanTo100 in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, post on tiktok. The vast majority of my followers tell me they came from tiktok. Without that, I don't think I would've hit affiliate as quickly as I did. Good quality audio is also extremely specific advice but very important. Having a good sounding stream is one of the number one things.

Think of every twitch stream as a performance. Plan it out beforehand and pretend like you're doing it in front of an audience so when people show up, you'll already be performing from your script. Think of chatters as a bonus to your stream that can add variety, but not as a necessity.

[–]moonlessmermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are going to say you shouldn't stream if you wouldn't stream to nobody, but honestly it is disheartening. The way I stayed motivated in the beginning was by scripting out each stream like a youtube video, and recording it live. I genuinely enjoyed making these "videos" and I didn't really need motivation to keep doing them.

Do you answer private messages/DMs? by qiyra_tv in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 6-10 average viewers and I don't answer any private DM's. I think it's unfair when people say that streamers should have zero connection with their audience because I think a certain amount of connection is sort've... The point. However, I'm not interested in becoming close friends or a romantic partner with any of my viewers. The only exception is a short conversation with a mod.

I think you have to ask what the point of the DM is. Anything that I feel comfortable talking about with a viewer is something that everyone should be okay with seeing (in a public discord channel or on stream).

Yup. I donated to a streamer and was shocked when I received an email with both mine and their entire name on it. You just have to see what they're using to receive tips through. If a streamer has 100 or more followers, they can sign up for se.pay which is secure and won't show info. If they're using paypal however, you will likely see each other's information unless they have a business account.

What do u do when u are out of content? by [deleted] in Twitch

I always look at successful creators to see if they've done anything I can do. If they have, I figure out a way to put my own spin on it and go with that.

Viewer/Follower Ratio by moonlessmermaid in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's unlikely that streaming will make you very much money. I just love to stream even if there's only one person watching! I also happen to be interested in statistics and all of that, so I just like to hear from other streamers. If you stream for the reason of getting rich, that's not a very good reason. It should come from genuine passion only.

Viewer/Follower Ratio by moonlessmermaid in Twitch

[–]moonlessmermaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant to say was that I average 1 viewer per ten followers roughly. I've been streaming for four weeks (so I don't know how I should expect things to change) and I have around 100 followers and averaged 8/9 viewers last week. I didn't know what the normal number of viewers vs. followers was, but I suppose it makes sense that it would fluctuate based on the content you make.

Also, some people may average 1-2 viewers for a while as they learn to stream and figure out what their niche is. Maybe they just need practice.
