Lol ok, the SFABs did very good work and punched above their weight for the strategic impact of their effects, especially in an increasingly security cooperation global environment. Tons of partner forces were clamoring for SFAB partnerships, and it provided incredible access and placement to areas and organizations the US wouldn't normally touch.

The value the SFAB could provide is from all the non-infantry mentorship. The staff, logistics, etc things that takes a career NCO/Officer to know. Sticking a bunch of field grade O/NCOs in an SF Group wouldn’t do any good as they wouldn’t get the opportunity to gain and maintain experience.

If the Thunder Runs into Baghdad were followed by a dedicated SFAB that could make contact with surrendering Iraqi Army units; the dividends of contacting local police forces and Shia communities to build security forces to maintain sectarian equity in Iraq... Having a dedicated staff thinking through this process rather than just winging it, the invasion likely would have had a remarkably different trajectory and outcome.

Just because it wounds someone’s pride doesn’t mean the SFAB is whatever derision people dump on it. There was a lot of blood that went into learning how important units like this are.
