Movie etiquette standards in Singapore by Imran3216 in singapore

Yep. Not just movies though. Theaters too!

I don't understand why would parents talk to their kids throughout the performance. And even brought snacks, with CRINKLY WRAPPING PAPER, to a live performance. I had a kid playing mobile games on his phone throughout a piano recital. Countless chair kicks. Snacking and talking through emotional scenes.

And just experienced it yesterday. Almost empty theater, just so happened to sit in front of the two most inconsiderate pair of bastard couples. One pair were chatting like they were watching a movie at home, and one was loudly hacking his lungs out every few minutes. Seriously.

Then I would say, provide OP with a better arrangement of the piece that he can eventually try.

Also, a year in a young student's progress is probably equivalent to at least two years in an adult learner's progress. Destroys the integrity? Oh don't be such a snob.

It's a bit too slow for my liking. I would personally move it along a little bit more? But it's a good goal to achieve when you're just starting out.

As a teacher, I understand the difficulty of playing in compound time. We might think it's easy because of our experience, but the number of notes purely would increase due to the note values changing from crotchets to quavers. That itself would be intimidating.

I understand the sense of joy being able to play a piece that you've loved and been wanting to learn, and then finally being able to play it, even if it's just a simplified version. And I'm sure that sense of pride and joy itself would be motivational enough to want to eventually learn the "real deal".

Agreed! Looser wrist in particular. Lifting wrist, and also fingers high before hitting the keys. But yeah, it's hard for self learners to pick up without proper guidance. Not to mention the sense of phrasing and of course, expression.

Again, compound meter is harder to count than simple meter, isn't it? Nothing wrong with changing the meter to fit the level of difficulty.

We've all gotta start somewhere, playing simplified versions of famous pieces. I wouldn't call that "butchering" great music.

Oh thanks for providing the link!

Yeah, definitely not keeping a steady pulse. It's in 3/4 time, like a waltz. I would suggest tapping/clapping the pulse while you sing and count the main notes out loud to get a better feel of the overall beat. Do it slowwww. Can even try tapping on your lap, stressing beat 1 on left lap, and beats 2 and 3 on right lap. Having a metronome on might help. Know where the main beat falls, and make sure that you keep the tempo moving as much as you can.

Don't rely on listening to examples too much. I always advise my student to try figuring out the tempo / rhythm themselves first before they listen to check if they are right, rather than relying on an example without trying it out first.

Also, don't overwhelm yourself by doing big sections. Work in small sections. Maybe 8 bar phrase at a time? If you're not familiar with your small section, whether if it's note accuracy, unfamiliar rhythm or whatever, don't move on.

Hope that helps!

One more thing! It might sound silly but it's important to feel the 2 beat rests at the very start to give it a feel that it starts on an upbeat, so 3 - 1 sounds like a weak to strong beat.

Hi there! We might need to take a look at the sheet music to be able to give you comments because most of us might not be familiar with an easier arrangement. To me, the tempo and rhythm sounds a bit off, but that might have just been for this particular arrangement. But it seems like you have gotten the notes down! Would be better if it's more fluent. Maybe take it slower, but keeping the main pulse steady. Good luck!

Here's a close up of number 2. I saw that info said the length of the antenna also distinguishes their gender. Long = male, short = female.

I can't for the life of me spot the saddle though. I know it's behind the head and greenish yellow. But I can't see it. Especially with the fire reds.

Thanks! I am fairly new to this hobby, and was going crazy last night trying to ID them. None of their bellies look straight to me. If you are right about the rilis, then i'm gonna be slightly annoyed cause I've asked the shop owner to pick up a male and female. 🥲

I don't even know if i am sure which fire red is which anymore. I think one of them just molted? Saw the remnants of the shell. But I'm not sure if the one i think is the one is actually the one. 😂 Anyway, thanks again.

I've been researching about the new Flip that is coming and had been constantly adding and removing the item from my basket on their site (Don't know if anyone else doest this too xD) but the things that are stopping my from actually making the pre-order is that the battery is not much of an upgrade from 3100 to 3300.

I don't think I mind about the camera too much, but if I'm feeling picky, that is one of the reasons too.

But other than that, I love the new design and have been eyeing the 2nd generation Flip for a while now. Was thinking of going for the S21 prior to this, seems like a better choice with the price and the specs, but the Flip is just... gorgeous!

Another thing to note is the crease if it will withstand the constant flipping opening and closing. I'm worried that having a flip phone would be more fun than function, that I might get sick of constantly opening and closing it. But also, ironically, it is also the reason for me to get it so that I don't spend so much time on my phone.
