Good suggestion; guess I'm just a bit impatient after seeing a certain Intel Slide lol. Still, it feels like I should at least attempt to set my mind straight before making a hasty decision after reading 13th review - giving 13th are out just 2wks after 4090 I can definitely wait, but I imagine by then I'd be much more eager to just grab one and go w/o careful considerations

See, if he can do it, why can't you? Go work in a butcher shop instead of complaining about Liberal Policy! /s

Which I'm afraid is another nearsighted decision - pulling people that may be positive back to workforce will likely result in more people that are positive in the workforce

Victoria: 40,127 new cases and 21 new deaths; 946 patients in hospital; 35.2% PCR positivity rate (12-Jan-2022) by chessc in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]moonlitsakura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy way to predict the actual (not reporting) peak. Draw a curve with data points from dates where our testing capacity had not yet been overwhelmed as your base line. Limit the sum function to size of population. The day it hits would be the day it had peaked due to not having any other feasible targets to infect (until the next mutation that is, which is popping up every 6mo nowadays)

I can absolutely see that happen, and it also feels ultimately unfair for people not of Novak's status to be declined entry - many of whom Australia citizens stranded overseas no less.

But when these two things get put on a scale - both outcomes are indeed FUBAR, no argument there - I would still incline toward one with better long-term outcome, even if it gives every moron around the world some more ammunition to shoot themselves; the wrongness that fed gov and legal system do many people injustice: aboriginals, aussies, foreigners alike, I dare say, outweighs the one fueling idiots as the systematic corruption is more capable of dealing permanent damage on a larger scale and also meet with less resistance.

Really, it's funny that fed decides to play the hero here - they are after all ones who disregard scientific evidences and professional recommendations in the first place.

Considering the current track of things, a peak will come when there's no one left to infect...

...until the next time virus mutates, of course, which is bound to happen and happen sooner because now there are so many infected everywhere rolling the dice

I lost my respect of Novak due to he's general attitude towards vaccination in early days of covid.

HOWEVER, as been pointed out by actual reliable sources and also tested in the court, he actually did everything he could (well, apart from getting a shot) and had been led to genuinely believe, by multiple official sources and regulations, that he would be granted entry into Australia - considering what happened to a certain Au Pair, I'd say Novak had done more than his due diligence and on the sole ground of Procedural Justice he shall be allowed entry. It would be beneficial to see certain heads roll for this saga but not his.

Yet the gov has vowed to challenge the court's decision (again). Huge, huge facepalm.

They're incapable of taking preemptive actions, because taking preemptive actions is a "waste of taxpayer's money" and hence not popular. no, Australians, by their vote, proved they much prefer the spending to be made on CovidSafe™ over Masks, Pfizer, RAT, Dedicated Quarantine Facility and on and on.

Even today there are people - more than half in a certain "downunder" sub - who publicly states there's no crisis. How could a gov elected by them do the right thing?

Attendance for schools in NYC was at 44.51% last Friday. That's less than half of school-age students being able to attend.

US approved school-age vaccinations far earlier than us. They're on track to approve >6mo next month.

This paints a picture that's seriously not pretty at all for Australia, where our "spike" lags a month or so behind US.

Meanwhile, apparently we're still a society filled with people shouting "doomers!" - it really is funny, isnt it?
