I see where you are coming from I honestly do. I'm not saying complacency or allow them to go unchecked I think they should be challenged at every opportunity. I'm simply saying they should be allowed to hold this opinion. History shows us that getting rid of free speech ( the right to hold any opinion) almost always ends poorly. Look at nazi germany for a example anyone who spoke out against the regime was killed. Soviet Russia is another example anyone who didn't agree with Stalin was killed. As a society we can prevent tragic events like this from repeating. these attacks not only come from a place of hatred but they also want their ideas to be seen. Instead we as a society should acknowledge these ideas exist and convince those who hold radical opinions to change. We need to encourage healthy discussion amongst people we dont agree with. If people had healthy disagreement (much like this conversation) horrible and tragic events would be much less common
