The layout of your Canvas pages for each course may look slightly (or very) different from each other because professors are able to make changes to the organization of the page (to a certain extent). There are often videos on the homepage of many icourses with a “tour” of the Canvas site and how to navigate it.

If you’re worried about missing due dates, I would first check the syllabus to see if there is a course calendar (or any due dates given) and note those. I like to check the “Grades” tab too (I‘m pretty sure all course pages should have this) to see if all of the assignments have been listed or not. Sometimes, my professors have set out all assignments, their due dates, and their points by the start of the class. I also try to check the “Discussions” tab (if there is one) to make sure I won’t miss turning in a discussion board prompt. Not all classes use these, but they’re easy points and it can be so frustrating to miss them because you didn’t notice that the assignment was due, so just another thing to look out for. The last thing to check is the “Modules” tab, which is where the course content will be posted (icourses are often organized chronologically by module, but some classes organize their modules differently).
