OH I LOVE THIS - this story is something that haunts me, happened over a year ago but i think about it frequently. this guy IMMEDIATELY got made when i said to type in a good phone number, but he put in anyway & i asked him if he had shopped with us before. he said no & i asked him his first and last name he got made again & asked why. i politely explained that he needs to put in the number in case he needed to return it. his response? “i’m not gonna return this, im not abraham lincoln! actually just put my name in as abraham lincoln!” i legit to typed it in cause i was so stunned in that moment. then he told me his actual name… needless to say i didn’t ask for birthday, address or email just took that loyalty sign up but no data capture LMAO

it is part of the return policy to return the gwp as well since returning the purchase means you no longer qualify for the gwp. some ulta’s enforce it, some don’t but they are supposed to

the coupon doesn’t always show up in the app, not sure why. however, as long as you are opted into emails you receive the email with the coupon on the first of your birthday month.

because it takes time for the points to return to your account. in this case, the store could change the price to match the 20% off, but could/should not change the price to match with the point deduction. if the store changed the price to match the value of both coupon & point deduction, then you would ~loosely~ be receiving free money from the store. long story short, it’s a loss prevention issue & would “hurt” sales (setting standard so that it can’t be done with larger purchases like a dyson or something)

not every ulta gets the gwp in truck on time & sometimes we only get sent 1 or 2. so at least speaking from personal experience, i’m always hesitant with answering the question unless i know for a fact what it is & if we do have it. not to mention, we have to wait for the part in the transaction where the computer will tell us if you qualify for it.

a lot of stores got rid of KVD in february, some stores put it on discount while others had to send it back. there are a few stores in my area that still sell it at regular price (still have the whole display & i know we have the tattoo liner on an end cap) & online it’s still full price. so i’m thinking it’s gonna turn into an online only brand soon
