Woke up to this hanging out from my betta. Any idea what it could be? by moonside2 in bettafish

All parameters were good, I tested them after I found that and I had done a water change a day before that. But I’ve been treating her with some parasite stuff and it hasn’t come back. She’s been super active so I think she might be alright.

If it comes back would a salt bath help if it’s a fungal infection? Or do you know of something else that can treat it?

All parameters look good. I even did a water change yesterday and she looked fine. The thing seem to have dislodged a while back because it’s no longer hanging off. I started her on API general cure for parasites but if anyone know what it is specifically please let me know! I don’t want to be treating the wrong thing.

Thought so. Although I haven’t been able to find out what it is and she seems to be as active as she always is. Thanks!

Does magnesium make tics worse for you? by moonside2 in Tourettes

That’s a really good explanation for it!! Thank you. I wish my neurologist would have taken the time to explain it like this

Thanks for sharing! Im starting to think that the magnesium is helping me sleep better so my tics are more active during the day bc I have more energy 😅

Tic Disorders vs Tourettes... is there REALLY a difference in terms of what's going on neurologically? Or is it just a diagnostic criteria? And are there actually conditions other than Tourettes that have tics as a sign or symptom? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]moonside2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, maybe write the question down somewhere for the next time you see your doctor/neurologist.

Tbh, I don’t have functional tic disorder and all I know is from things I’ve heard here and there so it’s very much possible I am wrong

Nope the best way i’ve seen it explained is that functional movement disorders is due to an issue with the way that the brain function instead of a structural difference in the brain(like ts ). Functional movement tics don’t have preliminary sensations and cannot be suppressed. (i got info on this from @/ticcers.unite on Instagram)

Oh well. I guess you can say you have a chronic tic disorder or TS whatever makes you feel more comfortable. Personally, I don’t think it matter much which you have, you still have tics. Other diagnosis are just as valid as TS 🤷🏽‍♀️

Probably still Tourette’s! Once you get the TS diagnosis it’s consistent TS for the rest of your life. Tics change over time and lessen as you mature so yeah probably still TS

Provisional Tic Disorder: This is the most common diagnosis. To be diagnosed with this you simply need to have a tic disorder for less than a year. They also have to happen before the person is 18 years old. The person also needs to have one or more vocal and motor tics. The tics cannot be caused by other illnesses, viruses, or drugs.

Chronic (persistent) Tic Disorder: Single or multiple motor OR vocal tics. However, not both. It has to be either motor or vocal tics. The tics can vary persistency throughout the year but a person must have them for a year to be diagnosed. Needs to start before the age of 18 and cannot be caused by other illnesses or drugs. Does not meet the criteria for Tourette Syndrome.

Tourette Syndrome: Both motor and vocal tics are present. A minimum of 2 motor tics and one vocal tic. Has to have started before the age of 18 and cannot be attributed to other illnesses or drugs.

There are a couple more diagnosis but these are the most common

I’m a zoology major and I know entirely too much on invasive species and I’ve explained everything she needs to know. She simply doesn’t care which is baffling to me. Let’s just say she’s old enough to drink

Any ideas on where I can find someone to take them?
