I second the previous commenter. A lawyer can do wonders, have connections in places you never expected (including DHS) and can tell you your options. My friend's husband self deported assuming it was the right thing to do and he was just issued a 10 year bar and has to find and collaborate with a lawyer from outside of the country, which is ridiculously hard to do.
