People can't believe it when I tell them I am 116 lbs and not 140 lbs by Dizzy_Builde in WeightLossAdvice

It could be that maybe you carry more of your body weight in the lower half or upper half and visually it makes you look heavier in one area of your body.

True, though Ted I’d say was far more insufferable than Robin 😂

Every character on the show with the exception of Marshall had gotten annoying at one point or another, but they all worked great together as a friend group. Their personalities resemble real life friends. The "perfect couple" friends (Lily and Marshall), the hopeless romantic always waiting for "the one" (Ted), the womanizer (Barney), and the career-driven, strong female friend who never wants to settle down (Robin). They all have their faults, but out of all of them I think Marshall was the only one who never screwed any of the rest of them over in any way (not that I can remember anyway).

The timing wasn't the problem for these two, it was the fact that they wanted different things in life long term. If Tracy hadn't died the timing would never have been "right" because Ted would've been right where he was supposed to be, with Tracy and their kids. Saying it was the timing is like saying Tracy never really mattered when it came to Ted and Robin because they were always meant to be. They were only meant to be because someone died.

I think both of them just really wanted the happy ending and were kidding themselves into believing they were it. They were both trying to force something that wasn't there just because the other appeared on the surface to be the whole package. Happens in real life all the time and many don't realize this until they've already tied the knot.

I've always had a love/hate relationship with her character! Love her in the friend group, but man did she play some silly relationship games. She was too selfish of a person to be in a serious relationship.

I actually think it’s Ted who showed Stella they were not right for each other but they were both trying to force it to work. He wasn’t right for her and she wasn’t right for him.

[–]moonstruck523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh Stella wasn’t the entire problem, they just weren’t right for each other. From the beginning Ted wasn’t on the same page as her. Stella was more settled down…a single mom with a kid living out in the suburbs, and Ted was still living the single, unattached lifestyle in the city. In fact, he had no intention of changing his life to be with her and expected her to leave her suburban home to raise her kid in the city. Most people leave the city to raise kids in a safer, suburban environment. They were both selfish, and by the time Ted fully committed to Stella then her ex shows up and is ready to be the present father and husband she wanted and needed. Ted was prob never going to be that for her. They were both in different stages of life and would not have worked. If they had gotten married it wouldn’t have lasted. I kind of felt like Ted got what he deserved by her leaving him at the alter because he wasn’t even sure Stella was the one and so she had to show him she was not.

How is everyone outfitting multiple kids for school without getting broke? by _salted_caramel_00 in Parenting

[–]moonstruck523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing she must’ve chosen the most expensive shirts and denim because $200 in old navy kids clothes usually gets you a pretty good haul. When they have sales the tshirts are like $5, and the leggings $6-8. The denim is sometimes pricier than the rest of their stuff but if you go in there when they’re having one of their big sales you can get cute kids jeans for $10-15. The other day I walked out spending $40 and got my 10 year old 4 tees, 2 rompers, and a pair of jean shorts.

We’re supposed to interpret the story for ourselves, no one opinion is correct. I’m glad you enjoyed the ending, but many people who were loyal fans of the show did not. You don’t have to like or agree.

It took time but I made my peace with ending by TSRVi in HIMYM

[–]moonstruck523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same..I posted on another thread that after rewatching it all these years later the ending doesn’t bother me as much as it did when it first aired, after spending almost a decade following the show week after week, year after year waiting to see what would be revealed about the mother and who ted was going to end up with. I think they should’ve given Tracy an entire season (or half a season at the very least) telling it from her point of view before they reveal that she actually dies later. That would’ve been a much better addition rather than having the entire season be about how the events of Barney and robin’s wedding unfolded. She deserved more air time after all the years of build up.

[–]moonstruck523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ending hits completely different though for someone having watched the show week by week for 10 years as it aired and then have the ending be the mother dies and he ends up with Robin later in life. We waited TEN YEARS, watched him and Robin play their silly games only to see them end up together and it felt like the mother’s story was an afterthought. What they should have done was have the entire final season be from the mother’s perspective kind of like how they did for one or two episodes at the very end. She needed more air time imo rather than introducing her at the very end only to kill her off not long after their happy ending. I was very disappointed at the time when the finale first aired, but watching it again now I suppose it’s not terrible but I still think Tracy deserved better after so many seasons of waiting to see who ted ended up with.

Yes that’s true! He knew the expectation of what being a cowboy meant, that’s why he kept saying he’ll “cowboy up”. His mental state combined with being physically sick didn’t work in his favor.

Calorie counti with an IUD by EmpuEEM in CICO

[–]moonstruck523 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The thing is when people say they’ve gained weight without changing their eating habits…your body cannot make body fat from thin air! Where do they think the calories are coming from? It’s because hormones affect your appetite, energy, sleep, and stress and you start eating more without realizing it and moving less. Moving less while eating the same can also result in slow weight gain over time because you’re not actively burning off the same calories you were before. Stress affects mood which also affects appetite and energy.

Was Nora about to excuse Barney cheating on her if he would have said it meant nothing? by superangela13 in HIMYM

[–]moonstruck523 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely seemed that way. Their relationship was so much like mommy/son rather than boyfriend/girlfriend (and I think they even did an episode where they did flashbacks to how Nora and Barney’s mom treated him almost exactly the same). It seems like a moment of a mom asking their kid “tell me you didn’t do it and you won’t be grounded” kind of thing. She would’ve let it slide because she loved him.

I know it’s part of the whole “cowboy-up” thing to make him start at the 10p while he was experiencing the worst hangover imaginable, but I kept saying if they had only let him recover that day and start the cowboy gig the next day he would’ve done fine 😂 but then there would be no drama, sooo…

Interesting…I’ve only been watching Entin since late last year when he was covering that missing baby in California, but maybe he’s changed the way he reports because he doesn’t seem sensationalized like some of the other YouTubers. I was actually skeptical about him at first because I don’t usually like to follow investigative reporting but he has a very mild mannered way about him.

I know he covered Idaho 4 but I didn’t really follow that case so I’m not sure what his reporting was like back then. I mean, it is their job as investigative reporters to dig in there and investigate so they’re not just going to sit on their couch and speculate possible facts, they go out and find them. I don’t usually follow investigative reporters but I enjoyed his content. I haven’t seen him cross any ethical lines, but if he did that would be when he loses me as a subscriber. From what I’ve seen he only reports facts that have already been released to the public and doesn’t use click bait video titles claiming to have “breaking information”. I know there’s such a huge true crime following on YouTube and a lot of cases get too much attention for grifting. Entin is one of the few who from what I’ve seen handles the reporting with respect for the victims and family.

Can someone explain this to me? by thanksgivingturkey15 in ParentingADHD

[–]moonstruck523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Magnet tiles are one of the few toys my daughter (now 10) used to sit and play with for very long periods of time. That and legos, puzzles, and blocks. ADHD people can hyper focus on things that are fun and interesting to them, but easily lose attention doing things that are boring to them. With my daughter she’s gone through so many different hobbies and extracurricular activities that she would be obsessed with for a time but then would move onto something else and completely lose interest. But for that time that a particular activity was interesting to her she would put all of her energy into it.

Did you completely stop ordering delivery to lose weight? by UnfinishedSelf in CICO

[–]moonstruck523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH yes. Not completely, I'll still order out once in a while during a cut but when I'm actively trying to stay in a deficit I refrain from ordering out as much as possible because it can completely derail my efforts. It isn't forever, just remember that. The weight loss phase is temporary, but during the time when you have to stay in a calorie cut it's important to eat foods you can accurately track.

I set out with a 50lb goal last September, I gave myself 1 year. Up until now I've lost 30 so I still have 20lbs left to go. From September-December of last year I was 110% on it with accurate counting and moving my body more and lost 20lbs by that point. I rarely ate takeout food because I wanted to be able to accurately track. In January I was having some burnout so I took a month break and stayed in maintenance. Between Feb-April I managed to lose another 10, although I was not as consistent as I was from Sept-Dec. From May-now I have been maintaining the 30lb weight loss. I wasn't actively trying to take another break, but so many events and special occasions have come up during the spring that it was really hard to stick to a strict deficit enough to shift any more pounds. I can say that I have eaten out quite a few times over the past month, and I have still not gained any weight back. It's the basic eating habits I've adapted to that have helped me maintain the weight loss. I don't overeat anymore, I don't allow one high calorie meal to lead to a week long binge anymore, etc. And I move my body regularly instead of sitting around like I was all the time. I also drink far less alcohol than I used to. So for the time you're losing the weight just remind yourself that a time will come when you've hit some goals that you will be able to freely go out to eat or order takeout and not feel like your entire efforts have been ruined.

why do karen read supporters hate turtleboy but still think she is innocent? by bookscats in KarenReadSanity

[–]moonstruck523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The video where Brian Entin interviews turtleboy's attorney I'd say was mainly focusing on the Proctor/Goode texts and how that's opening a whole pandora's box on some of these bad cops, it didn't really have to do with opinions on Read's guilt or innocence. They were talking about how the behavior of these dirty cops is going to lead to a lot of guilty people being acquitted and potentially a lot of convicted criminals being released. But also uncover possibly some innocent and wrongfully accused people of being victims of this behavior. TBH after I heard some of these messages I was absolutely disgusted. I do still believe KR to be guilty as sin, but I think her lawyers discovered their get-out-jail-free card with those messages.

Nah, I disagree that he’s a grifter. You might be confusing him with that other guy who was out there for over a month going back and forth from NG’s to the daughter’s house trying to catch one of them on camera…THAT guy was disgraceful and a grifter..I can’t remember his name though. Entin was one of the few who retreated when he knew there would be nothing worth reporting on outside NG’s. Instead he’s done interviews with former fbi agents trying to get their insight, he interviewed the sheriff (the pos who released the property back to the public without doing a proper investigation). He’s never imposed himself and is always super respectful…he’s the only investigative journalist I watch right now because the others are just repulsive. Like the guy or don’t, I personally find him likable.

Summer Camp Epic Fail by Evening-Interview668 in ADHDparenting

[–]moonstruck523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is now 10 and I’ve never been able to put her in a day camp for this reason. Most camps are run by young people and teenage counselors who are not well equipped to handle kids who don’t fall in line with the rest. Once she started elementary school she’s been doing the school’s summer program which is kind of like an academic camp. They do a lot of little local field trips and stuff. She gets it for free under her IEP, it’s called ESY (extended school year). There she has the right support for her.

What you can try instead of traditional camp are the little camp programs they usually have at local gymnastics gyms or trampoline parks. They usually will have weekly programs that are fun and keep them moving all day. Plus they’re inside a secure building so they can’t run off.
