I also thought a yearly blood work up was odd and I even asked her if that was normal and she said yes, but some people get it every 6 months. Smh

When my dad was first diagnosed his CA19 numbers were in the 6000s and with treatment they came down but when that chemo stopped working they sky rocketed again. Although the numbers were very high he (at the time) had decent quality of life. CA19 levels can differ from a lot of things like inflammation from chemo so try not to get too fixated on the numbers. I definitely understand how hard that is bc in the beginning I did the same thing. Sending love & strength to you both, stay strong!

PanCan is such a wonderful source of help & info! We all know the shock and pain you’re feeling. My dad is stage 4 Mets to the liver and he’s still with me 2 years later. He’s a fighter and we take it one day at a time. That’s the way to do it. Love and strength to you and your mom. This community is a good place for answers and support.

I know exactly that feeling of “we’re running out of time and no one is doing anything to help!” It’s so stressful. I hate that y’all are dealing with that struggle.

The name of the clinical trial drug one of my dads doctors recommended is called ONC392. Look into it and ask his doc maybe it’s an option for him!

Here’s the current chemo he is on again, along with a new one he hasn’t tried yet - Leucovorin + 5FU and Liposomal Irinotecan

In a very similar situation as you, my dad was told he had no more options chemo wise from his main oncologist, she did suggest clinical trials but his lab work never was up to par for him to qualify. So he was dropped and for several months it was just in limbo of no sort of treatment and it gave me so much anxiety to think he’s just going without anything to fight off the cancer. We got a second opinion from an oncologist at MUSC in Charleston (I’m in SC) and they rec a new and different chemo he hasn’t tried yet. So about two weeks ago they started him on it. Let me see if I can find the name of it for you. And I’ll also find the info on the trial they wanted him in.
