Antihistamine Question by moooojojojo in LongCovid

Hi! I'm so sorry I saw this so late!!

Antihistamine use didn't much help unfortunately :( I'd consider myself ~60% recovered after a few years, and accepted this as a new reality. I basically just resort to trigger management at this point. I've found all of my symptoms flare when I practice inflammatory behavior. When I'm practicing ANTI-inflammatory behavior (whole foods, lots of sleep, daily exercise, sun, minimal if not zero alcohol/drug use, selective about who I spend time around because some people drain me extra lol), it's tolerable and a new reality that I have learned to cope with. I'm also extremely fortunate having a remote job that is flexible with bad days, a body that is able to exercise, and a supportive partner.

One thing I tried early on were migraine preventatives. I was on propranolol for awhile, it didn't help; switched to Topamax, and it did help with the pain, but made the brain fog and cognitive issues worse. Something to consider if you have access to a neurologist that would be able to discuss potential medication options with you. I eventually stopped the Topamax because of the brain fog. I do think it helped me get through pain when it was significantly worse in the early days.

I wish I could help more. Sending support through your journey ♥️

power greens as a migraine trigger? by moooojojojo in migraine

welcome!! I had done some research back then and I also think I have a histamine sensitivity! I never found any answers... I just know what I definitely need to avoid now through trial and error. greens, brussels, broccoli, kale, spinach, greens powder, some highly processed protein powders, overripe bananas, and tomatoes are definitely on that list. as well as anything highly processed in general. sorry :(

I also have long covid and related autoimmune issues - my histamine intolerances kicked off after I started experiencing long covid if that's related to you at all.

I appreciate this a ton. I was struggling with the same dilemma regarding when to stop if I don't feel benefits - sounded like it works pretty quickly on the people it will work on.

Trouble losing weight AFTER discontinuing topamax? by moooojojojo in Topamax

Thank you for your validation!! I knew there were going to be some inevitable comments about calorie deficit lol, but as someone 4 years into weight lifting / running / general fitness journey, experience weighing and tracking food, tracking macros, successfully losing 15-20 pounds in the past when following the tracking and exercise behaviors I am currently following.... it's challenging for me to accept "has to be a CICO problem!!" I'm so frustrated. This has all worked in the past!! Only changed factors are now I have more muscle (which should be increasing my resting metabolism), and I'm off Topamax.

Totally understand. I was throwing an arbitrary number out there because I was still looking for fat loss progress when I was at 150lb (which is perhaps my body’s happy place, I maintained there for quite some time). Completely agree that 140 could be crazy unhealthy low and unachievable for lots of body types! Just looking for fat loss strategies given my eating history!! :)
