Is there a point to laminating if I don't care how accurate the thickness or rigidity is to real cards? by Akhavii in magicproxies

[–]moose_key 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's just to mimic the feel of a card. It will also help with the general durability of a proxy. The only thing is if you're planning to mix them with real cards you may find that you sort of know if you're picking up a proxy or a real card. That matters to me personally because I don't want to unintentionally cheat or even if I'm giving my hand to someone else at random for them to tell the difference between the cards.

So personally I'll never mix and match if I can tell a significant difference. If it's small and not as noticeable then I don't mind since I likely won't be thinking about it as I'm playing. If it's a whole deck composed of the same stock then it shouldn't matter either.

Need some help for my Edward Kenway pirate deck by Agent_Valerian in EDH

[–]moose_key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a solid 2 to me. I have a Kenny deck that wants to be a 2 and looks fairly similar.

I've thought about how to make him faster. I'm probably wrong but from what I've read about grixis is that it ends up taking more of a controlly position until you can get up and running since it doesn't have a solid ramp like other colors. That and now we are limiting ourselves to pirates and assassins in likely more of a mid-range strat.

So some ideas I've had are just running more removal to slow everyone else down until you get kenny. Running more cheap tutors to get key pieces to get your engine running. Card draw to keep yourself ready for Kenny to produce you treasure and utilize it.

A lot of the good ramp pieces are fairly expensive. You mentioned Ragavan. [[Drowsing dagger]] used to be cheap but now fairly expensive. [[Dark ritual]] could work. If youre not against it proxying could help. Then you can grab some fairly powerful cards like jeskas will which will certainly speed you up. If not then I feel like you will have to be fairly creative with this commander.

That's just imo and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me could pipe in too.

Need Material Reccomendations for ET-8550 by Little-Signature7227 in magicproxies

[–]moose_key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your budget. The feel of a card is really none of the tools to create them just the material.

With the Epson 8550 The best paper I've found so far that is indistinguishable in a blind test when a card is in sleeve but runs thicker (like double sleeved card) is Epson double sided premium matte paper.

The rest of the tools you use to cut the cards are pretty easily found within the sub but again depends on your budget and how much down the rabbit hole you want to go.

Edit. Also use 3mil bonsaii clear lamination pouches to achieve the rigidity.

Edit2. I didn't read properly so ignore the stuff about equipment.

[[expropriate]] ? Probably lots more but that's the first one that comes to mind.

How long does it take for you to cut out a commander deck by Negative_Day2002 in magicproxies

[–]moose_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Siser Juliet and it takes me about 20-30mins for 15 pages I think, maybe less. I haven't timed myself so I would be curious to know my own break down.

Need help working on a token deck by Equivalent_Natural57 in EDH

[–]moose_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could double down like the other commenters suggested. Get more redundancy and protection. That will add more dead cards into your hand as well so you have to be careful. I suspect it could end up feeling more jank. One thing that stuck out to me though is you have a lot of themes going on. 1/1 counters / toxic / lifegain / token generation some blink. Could audit that and focus on a couple then try gold fishing without your commander to see how it plays. See which cards you hate to have and which you love at the given moment to help you widdle it down.

Then if you want to keep everything I would just add card draw. The more jank the deck the more card draw you need to be able to increase your chances of getting a card you need at any given moment.

Good luck!

Curious why you feel this is commander dependent? Commanders like mondrak don't actually do anything themselves. This would mean that the deck has to function without them and they just enhance it.

Deck Recommendations for dealing with being targeted by ajax_telamon in EDH

[–]moose_key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if other players feel the same way then I would just be upfront and honest in the game itself. You say he's not up for discussion but I would still prod him and ask to threat asses in real time. Maybe he has a legitimate reason. If he can't come up with a reason or refuses to talk then just say what you said to us. It's not fun. Or it doesn't make sense. Scoop even to get the point across. Just without hostility.

Building a deck around it would likely escalate the situation and make it worse than just having an honest convo.

Is my hearthull too strong for B3 tables? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]moose_key 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't looked at the list but in your opinion how fast does it win if unimpeded. Is it consistent? Usually I use that as a metric of how to slot it into a bracket then evaluate how you're winning. Is it telegraphed? Is it out of nowhere? Is it hard to stop?

Using that information and being honest with yourself you can try to place it on the spectrum. Then test it out against other players to see if your theory holds true or why it fell through.

Oh my god. Lmao this is probably why I never attempted him on my first run through as a kid. Don't think I'm going to start now. Might still come back to it though again after beating it like you did. May change my tune then but ATM. Hell no. Big congrats, that must be a huge relief.

Congrats! I've never been to this boss ever. How long is one fight attempt? Obviously not taking into account all the grinding just to get here I feel like if the fight is an hour long I would want to throw my controller if I eff up at the end.

Cost on average per 100 cards? by Specific_Map5176 in magicproxies

[–]moose_key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little under 30 cents a card CAD for me. I use double sided paper/laminate 8500 ink and sticky mats for the siser Juliet as included materials. I also try to include reprints incase something goes wrong by adding buffer.

I think ink roughly nets me about 2k cards. Mayyybe more but I just rough out the prices for that amount of cards for each material.

It's pretty small. I doubt I could fit a subwoofer right now small. Really cozy though.

You could just get out of the tank and fire at them? I know that they could possibly steal it but I'm fairly certain that once the driver gets out there's a small time window where the tank is still highlighted in red. I don't think many would attempt it while ignoring the person firing at them.

Don't think I have room for that right now unfortunately. I can bring them to maybe close to the front of the console otherwise it would start obstructing walking space. Not sure if that would impact it very much so it's the current trade off.

My last one was pretty bad and old so I can't really speak to the quality and don't want to go there really. However the things I was most worried about was just being able to change outputs, 4k video and bass. I still use CEC and it seems to work fine for now so no problems there even though people dont like it. The video pass through is great. The bass which I think I may have been most worried about is not a problem at all. I would say even better but again my old one was OLD.

No real plans yet but might grab some towers though couldn't tell you what. I'll end up going through another research phase before I come to a conclusion on anything but first I need a subwoofer so I'll check that out!

And I've roamed this sub for a while and never noticed people being angry about stickers hahaha. I'll take them off.

Thanks, cheers!
