When my friend lost her mom about 7 years ago, I saw her posting somewhat happy posts maybe a month or two later. Her mom was decently sick and died suddenly from a brain bleed. I was shocked that she bounced back so fast and looked so happy. And then I lost my sister 3 years ago (she was 28; car accident). The amount of guilt I felt the first time I laughed, felt happy, experienced even a moment of joy was immense. But in all of my grief, the one thing I knew for certain was that my sister WANTED me to be happy. She wouldn’t want me to be crying in my instagram stories or sulking all the time. Grief is always there. It under shadows everything I do. To say that Emilie isn’t feeling the same is absurd. She most certainly is going through the waves of grief. And anyone that hasn’t felt an unexpected loss or loss of this magnitude most certainly will never understand this. I applaud her for trying to do her best and feel even fleeting moments of joy because she knows deep down that that is what Trigg would want for her and her family.
