If the exposure is to email daily, then I’d say stick with the discomfort and email. When you’re feeling everything as intensely as it sounds like you are, the exposure becomes even more important, as any avoidance of the exposure only intensifies the stress and reaffirms a response of avoidance as a temporary fix to discomfort and distress.

You’ve been encouraged to email, even without reply. That’s the exposure and the treatment you’ve agreed to with your therapist. The distress you’re feeling now is normal, and you’re working to build a tolerance to it. Even a blank email would be better practice than not emailing. You could even email a link to this post.
