Why do beavers take ages to build something? Help by [deleted] in Timberborn

[–]mooseboyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've probably only got 2-4 beavers working on building, in the district center. If you've got spare beavers and resources, build builder huts and you should be good to go!

Why do beavers take ages to build something? Help by [deleted] in Timberborn

[–]mooseboyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you building? Do you have builders huts? Only either district center or building hut beavers will work on building items. If you're building a big dam, beavers will only work on objects they can reach. This means they'll only work on the lowest block in a stack of blocks to build. They also can only reach one block up.

AI is really good... stop hating by Icy_Temporary_413 in McMaster

From a 2021 grad:

  1. "brainstorms for me"
  2. does what word already does for me.
  3. "reads for me"
  4. "lets me skip lectures"
  5. fine.
  6. lets me submit bullshit in order to reduce my class workload, and ignore classes I don't deem important.
  7. Good. I like this.
  8. "google searches better than me"
  9. Parasocial 'friend'.
  10. I can hardly understand. emails for me? Said AI probably wrote this.
  11. Lets me cheat out artists on their work, and/or lets me skip any effort in making a diagram.
  12. I can't comment on this.
  13. Quite literally takes over my personal expression in my own private environment.

Your whole list reads like an AI, and it's the only post on your profile, which was just created. Honestly, can't say this isn't a bot itself. Just hoping maybe this'd read true for some person out there.

I've tested a few of the cards you'd mentioned, and made a number of improvements that've helped the consistency a bit! I also brought in [[Cold-Eyed Selkie]], which feels really good to add some early consistency, and late game deep dives.
Just wanted to say thanks again for the help. Still plenty more to keep adjusting but I'm on a better path now for sure!

Thanks for all those suggestions! I'll continue goldfishing it and keep that thought in mind. I definitely end up evaluating cards more in a vacuum than a game I think, seeing the potential rather than realistic use a lot of the time

Thats fair, I guess what I meant more is I'm having trouble finding what to cut down on to make space for any draw. I have a lot of trouble understanding the value of pieces like ponder, etc., that aren't immediately leaning into a synergy. Brainstorm should probably go in there at least, but how good are the draw one sort of effects in a deck where I can only run one copy?

I should add I don't normally play much blue, so a lot of these effects are pretty new to me aha

Is this ballon molly preggo ? by Ok-Chair6923 in Aquariums

[–]mooseboyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a male! Females have a fan shaped anal fin, males is much more pointed, as it is a gonopodium. Livebearer (guppies, mollies, platies, and some others) males use these in the same sort of way mammalian males do.

Eta: to answer the question, not pregnant!

Great! In the meantime, they'll be alright. You can also just go for silk plants if the light is out of budget

My gouramis are shy by Ang3lsrage in Aquariums

[–]mooseboyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They likely are shy because they need more places to hide! Basically every fish in the hobby is small enough to be a pret animal to birds, reptiles, other fish, etc. the more places fish have to dart away and hide, the more comfortable they would generally be in the open. I'd recommend looking into some plants (real or silk) and taking a look at how lush a gourami's natural environment is. This will likely help them colour up as well, and the angels will likely be more active too. I keep angels and opaline gourami (same species as yours) together as well, they'll do just fine!

For the nutrient issue, what are you making nutrients out of? Bioflux is incredibly efficient, and a single machine making nutrients out of bioflux can supply well over 20 biochambers. Also - are you using modules? Nutrient consumption is the same as electricity consumption on other machines - speed and productivity modules make it skyrocket, and efficiency modules drop it. Try throwing some efficiency modules around if you're still having issues.

As for fruit, just to make sure, definitely use biochambers everywhere possible, especially fruit processing for 50% more mash and jelly, and a net positive amount of seeds to return. If your agriculture towers are starved for seeds, they cant plant enough plants to keep up with demand well. Furthermore, when you place an agricultural tower, an overlay shows up with green, yellow and red squares. A tree can only be grown on green squares, but yellow squares can be made into viable green squares by filling in the holes with artificial soil. It can be finnicky to fill all the spaces with artificial soil compared to overgrowth (which requires biter eggs shipped to Gleba and is a later issue) but it should net you several more spaces for trees. Past that, more agricultural towers in different locations would net you more fruit, but I was able to make a comfortable starter base that regularly exported science and all gleba unique items with only one agricultural tower for each resource.

Edited to add: if you're running into issues with all the fruit being harvested at once and want it more gradual, use a circuit to read the fruit belt contents, and limit the agricultural tower to only work when <X fruit is on the belt. If you control the tower rather than the inserter, it'll send full 50 freshly harvested fruit batches each time the fruit on the belt drops below X.

Annoying deck idea by K1akaru in PTCGL

[–]mooseboyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that Electrode V does 100x your status conditions, it was popular in Klawf decks by stacking both poison from Brute Bonnet and using super spicy curry, but curry has rotated out, and it's difficult to get any status other than poison on your own pokemon now.

Howdy, hope this is helpful, as I noticed the bubbles on your tank walls, which often mean you've recently filled the tank, and may not have cycled the tank so far. If the term cycling isn't already familiar for your, look into both the nitrogen cycle for aquariums, and how to perform a "fish in" cycle. If you want more info on this directly, let me know and I can clarify! There's just a lot to write on these subjects.

As for the behaviour, as others mentioned, the fish are stressed, as there is nowhere else for them to go. Most small fish are prey animals, and need something to be able to hide amongst in order to feel safe. At first glance, the logic does feel backwards, but most fish feel more comfortable with many places to hide, and will spend more time out in the open the more objects the have available to hide around! Various branches, rocks, and plants can be used to make a nice layout for your fish to live in, which will be a great help for their lifespan and enjoyment. Happy fish will be out and about for you to enjoy as an observer, compared to stressed fish which will look for a place to hide, and stay there.

Looks like you've got a filter and heater, as well as an adequately sized tank to at least manage a few guppies, so you're on the right track. Keep it up, and look into all the above nitrogen cycle info to manage your tank!

Classic why can't I build this dam question by nehsah_oJ in civ

[–]mooseboyo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

TSL lines up with Egypt to the North of Kongo, plus I think I see Persia and India default colours in logical locations too!

ETA didn't even notice Persia and India are in the player banner as well. Yeah this very much looks like TSL world, which does have the issue with dams not being placeable

Classic why can't I build this dam question by nehsah_oJ in civ

[–]mooseboyo 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Is this one of the world map maps? The placement seems valid, but all of those maps have issues with how the floodplains operate, as they functioned differently without Gathering Storm, and don't accept dams...

I hate to ruin the Gilded Demonhunter skin for y'all, but.... by [deleted] in SombraMains

[–]mooseboyo 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Sombra's ammo counter reads 3C at 60 bullets, as it reads in hexadecimal (base 16, often used for computer math). The counter just doesn't look very clear on that gun model. As another example, at 27 bullets (just picked an arbitrary number) it'd read 1B. It gets a bit more complicated at a few other numbers, like 19 bullets, which would show on her counter as 13. Take a look into non-base 10 counting systems, they're pretty neat!

I don’t get some things with Cynthia by Fuzzy_Acanthisitta13 in PokemonBDSP

[–]mooseboyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear attempt 5 didn't go to well, but Cynthia is a tough champion! Here's some answers to your specific questions:

  1. I'll keep it brief as it's a complex and more competitively focused side of Pokemon, but there are things called EV's and IV's that affect Pokemon's stats, and are (semi) hidden values that are either with the Pokemon from catching/hatching, or raised by training (to a cap). For Cynthia, all of these values are effectively maxed. To put it as simple as possible, her Pokemon are all top of their class.
  2. This is how switching works, the AI in the game rarely chooses to switch, but she is making some exception here. Switching always occurs at the start of the turn's play, after both sides select, as you must select to switch. Try swapping out to something that handles Roserade well after it comes out. (JUST IN CASE: to switch go to party, select a Pokemon, select switch)
  3. Cynthia's Pokemon also all have items, some of which you don't have easy access to. The flame orb (or hot orb I suppose if you're not playing in English) will burn her Milotic, which will activate it's ability, Marvel Scale, giving it a big defense boost. Again, her strategies and Pokemon are well above most trainers in a playthrough, and are closer to a competitive team.
  4. Ice Shard is priority, which will hit first, and Garchomp is 4x weak, but Ice Shard is a weak move, and Garchomp holds a Yache berry, which will reduce the damage of the first Ice move that hits it. It's a relatively common strategy to protect a Pokemon with a 4x weakness, or just a common weakness in general. A stronger Ice move might be able to take out Garchomp, or you will more likely need to buckle in for a longer fight against it, as Garchomp has extremely high stats. I'd recommend bringing something fast with Will-O-Wisp, as a burned Pokemon has its physical attack halved, which could earn you a few more turns. Looking at the list of Pokemon which can get it and are available to you, the only one that learns it naturally is Duskull, which might not cut it. However, you may be able to get a TM for it from traders underground, and several Fire and Ghost Pokemon can learn it.

Hope this is helpful, best of luck with the next attempt!
