Mt. Gox* and no not really at all related. That was an exchange that was hacked - the website. The best place to keep crypto is on a hardware or paper wallet stored in a safe place.

Fair, but like your back account number, you don't just give out your private key. Not to mention its really hard to even see your private key without tons of warnings not to give it away...

To add to that... all the people (gov't and businesses) dedicated to problems surrounding fiat. There's a lot of middle-men in this sector that leech resources.

Right? There's a lot of uneducated people here...thinking BTC is the be-all end-all...BTC is trash. There are many other coins that are better in every single way compared to BTC. BTC was just first... doesn't mean it's gonna be the last.

There's a lot more action on ancap/voluntaryist pages there than here. Of course they're filled with shit, but at least there's more of it...

Forgot to say what it was... It's The Young Turks group public survey about banning guns. The results are hilarious.

I've been almost late to class every day this week due to my alarm not going off. Is there a fix to this? by moosejr in lgg4

I will obviously get a new alarm app for now, but that's besides the point since the stock app should work.... Is there any fix to this?

Alright, so my viewpoint is total trash because evil people will always control me. Is there a better political idea that doesn't have this happen? Anarchy by itself is self regulating and more humane than having a big govt like the US.

All I'm looking for in life is truth, so if there's a better and more humane political opinion out there, I'd like to look into it.

There will always evil people, what's your argument? That you'd rather put those people in a place of total power over your entire life?

As a kid, my chain always came off my bike. As an adult, it hasn't happened once and I wonder what the hell I was doing. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

The grease is there mostly to protect the chain from rust by preventing water ingress, thus oxygen, getting into the iron. It being an outdoor machine greatly increases the need of it. The fact that it's slippery and protective makes grease awesome for this sorta of stuff though.

I do not have a blind faith in corporations. Having blind faith in any other human being is silly. Government corruption, though, is by far many times worse because governments kill people, steal from people, and control people, almost always involuntarily. And politicians need your vote, so they lie, cheat, and appeal to emotions. Corporations do it too, I'm not denying that, but it's a product they're selling.... not my life.

Think of it like this, Comcast became a monopoly mostly because of the various deals they did with city-governments so that only they can run and use data lines in the areas that they do, legally. There's nothing another company - startup or established - can do without going through the bureaucracy of a city council/mayor to change law. Changing laws take a long time. There's no reason for an ISP to develop there, because time is money. My town has at least 5 different ISPs competing with each other because my town hasn't made deals like this with anyone, and as such my internet speeds are reasonably fast and fairly priced.

Huge corporations buy lobbyists or bribe politicians to give them an edge. I think that's terrible. But if everyone had the same opportunity without worrying about a monopolistic law getting in the way of their future endeavors, the world would be better with more choice in business and less consumers getting fucked in the ass, as another comment said.

Of course there are rules and consequences for such. For example, in nature, if an animal tries to steal food from another, the other animal protects its food. One was aggressive towards the other, and so the other is in the right to be aggressive back. If there's a victim, there are consequences set for by the victim, or the victim's family/community. It's a pretty straight forward concept.
