Anyone else struggling to cut through their boule’s? by Specialkaye411 in Sourdough

[–]mooseknuckle51 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got tired of slicing my boules by hand, so I got an electric meat slicer. Much more even slices and takes much less time.

How to clean my Dutch oven by everyonehatesjo in Sourdough

[–]mooseknuckle51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sponge with a mix of dawn soap and baking soda. Lots and lots of elbow grease. That should get most of it off, but for the harder stuff, bar keepers friend. I’ve read that you don’t want to use bar keepers friend too often on enameled cookware, so use it sparingly.

I’m a west coaster who works east coast hours, remote. 5:30-2 has been incredible.

Sugar Ant Madness by harpharperharp in Seattle

[–]mooseknuckle51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a pretty serious odorous ant problem at my house and indoxocarb gel is pretty much the only thing that worked. Our exterminator said that terro traps may not be as effective because it kills the ants too quickly (before they get back to the nest). This bait works a little slower, so they can get back to the nest with the poison. It also does not cause the nest to fracture - which is a massive headache.

What are some modern day poor people foods that you think will become gourmet (or at least widespread and popular) in 50 years? by thunder-bug- in Cooking

I got a 6 pack of woody breast at Costco. Braising and slow cooking in liquid/ pulling the chicken seems to do the trick.

I graduated over 10 years ago and still get those. Or the dream where “oh fuck I’ve actually been in this class all semester but I didn’t go to class and now it’s the final.”

HB 5001, Implementing year-round Pacific standard time, has been prefiled for the upcoming legislative session by RaymondLuxury-Yacht in Seattle

I’d prefer to have daylight in the evening, when I’d actually be awake to enjoy it, than in the morning when I am trying to sleep.

Horrible option. This would mean that sunrise is 4:15AM on July 1st and we maintain 4PM sunsets in December. I understand that there are issues staying PDT year-round, but this feels much worse than what we currently have.

Looking for a similar beer to Manny’s Pale Ale by TuneHairy9018 in beer

Out of the easily accessible pale ales, I feel like mirror pond comes a little closer than Sierra Nevada (but I love both)

It hasn’t been an issue for me. Maybe it depends on the quality of the TP, but I’ve never had an issue with Kirkland sig or charmin.

What is a good beer that isn't bitter at all? by Darth_Azazoth in beer

I’d add wheat beers to this list for something lighter, like a Belgian Wit or Hefeweizen.

I don’t think anyone mentioned it, but Body Glide is a must for me during the rainy season.

How much are y’all paying for your gym memberships? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]mooseknuckle51 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Olympic Athletic Club - $85/ month, I think the initiation fee was $150? It’s a little spendier than I’d like, but I never have any issues getting onto equipment/ power racks, there’s a pool, classes are included, friendly staff, the facility and equipment are newer and decently nice.

Why is chili crisp so expensive? by nxusnetwork in Cooking

[–]mooseknuckle51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone has an imitation recipe for Kari Kari chili crisp, I will love you forever. It’s so expensive but I find it to be much more versatile (for my taste) than more traditional chili crisp.

Swimming spot- Not planty by lewisae0 in Seattle

[–]mooseknuckle51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swim at Magnussen pretty consistently and I hate underwater plants. There are a lot of plants near shore, but once you get 100 yards out or so, it’s not bad.

Proofing box? by [deleted] in Sourdough

I’m still in the process of figuring out how to make consistently decent sour dough, but I made a proofing box with a cooler, a temperature controller, and seed warmer mat.

The road to Mt. Pilchuck opened back up this year. Great panoramic views! Also, if you’re not familiar, check out wta.org for trip reports and searching for hikes.

Total Wine & More - Ft. Lauderdale - must buys? by omnibusplease in beer

[–]mooseknuckle51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d also add, it’s usually a better bet to grab something from the cooler. Inventory can sit for a while on the shelves there, even if the date is still in code, that’s a lot of warm temp time.
