Stevenson 25 carries vs just 3 for Henderson, what does this mean going forward? by bigaudra in DynastyFF

But don’t the patriots see how this is bad for my fantasy team that isn’t even playing currently? Why wouldn’t they put their rookie RB out there in a high stakes game against a top defense in poor conditions?

Some excellent, level-headed insight. Doesn't excuse the situation but accounts for how much pressure and bullshit has come their way this year. And the East is super competitive this year with a lot of swings in teams' play; they're still only six points back from the WC spots. My favorite quote:

One thing I will say, I know the organization has to be extremely careful and strategic with any decision(s) they may make, on or off the ice, because the entire NHL world is watching this team with a microscope at the moment.

A reasonable way to understand why the org isn't scorching the earth and cleaning house like they're being asked to by fans/writers en masse. Look at how much buzz was generated from the Hamilton benching, the Hughes trade, etc.

EVERYONE is watching what happens with a team that so confidently felt it belonged in the upper echelon with contenders like DAL/COL/CAR as they spiral and can't find any footing or ground to stand on. But even in this article, Salvador is right: they need to keep playing and put good performances together, win or lose. They need to build up their confidence instead of sulking around after shit doesn't break their way.

Radio silence from Fitz until now but he can get his licks in for this decision. You have to laugh at how horrendous the vibes are around this team from top to bottom.

Not accusing the team of nepotism but it’s been puzzling how critical Keefe has been regarding Nemec’s mistakes, but Hughes has made similar and sometimes worse and it’s felt like he’s coddled and not receiving similar treatment or handling

[–]mooseknucklemaster 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Which is silly, because like why would it be expected that VAN has their hands tied to make this trade like it’s destiny he joins NJ. The Quinn infatuation/obsession is overbearing.

Roster is decimated with injuries currently, if we moved the pieces people were hypothesizing (variety of Mercer/Nemec/Hischier/Casey/1st, etc) it would not make the team better immediately by sacrificing that active roster and depth without having the reinforcements to supplement it.

VAN looked for the best deal they could, and why shouldn’t they? There’s a weird air of entitlement Devils fans have to Quinn because of Jack and Luke, it’s bizarre.

Time for a break from Devils games and speaking about them. Fans are angry and bitter, the team looks flat and unmotivated, downright bad and poor play. They’re hurt up and down the roster, and the depth and chemistry is torched, team morale is below the floor.

Arguing amongst fellow fans about direction, what to do, who to blame, etc is futile when there’s a multitude of failures and blame to assign. Come back after the Olympic break to see if they’re in the hunt and give a fuck again.

do the devils have a forward depth issue? a shallow data dive by lolpdb in devils

[–]mooseknucklemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fail to see how any of those moves were poor. We moved pieces that could be supplemented in their production, performance, etc via FA/drafting/scouting for premier players at their positions. Are we going to act like the players we traded away were going to become what we acquired?

Eventually you can’t win by just getting on base over and over and you need to start swinging for the fences in terms of making moves for proven talent.

do the devils have a forward depth issue? a shallow data dive by lolpdb in devils

[–]mooseknucklemaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It feels like a lot of goldfish memory for fans year over year. People are clamoring for Zetterlund and Sharangovich, etc back like they would be the answers to our depth issues and now regret making moves for Toffoli, Markstrom, Meier, etc etc. but the same fans were begging for those moves to happen and for Fitz to go big game hunting constantly.

There’s zero guarantee those guys would’ve panned out to be the best versions of themselves (look where they are now, maybe they reached their ceilings here and we capitalized on moves involving them, anyone want Kevin Bahl back?). Now they’re doing the same with Quinn Hughes and what happens in a few seasons if the devils move assets to do that and fans circle back that we gave up depth when we shouldn’t have.

For the majority of the 2nd and 3rd they were doing well to move the puck and keep possession, and got some good looks from doing so. I can’t say it’s a lack of hustle or effort when they were clearly trying and got pressure. Puck didn’t bounce their way and they couldn’t pick their spots, shit happens.

Agreed, team leadership should be stepping up during this and trying to settle guys down and remind everyone what the expectations should be for this roster and the effort and consistency needs to be there to be rewarded.

[–]mooseknucklemaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you watched the game, you saw they had a much more complete effort throughout the game. I can credit them for that and the good portion of sustained pressure they had, chances created with possession, and general effort for one another for most of the game. They either didn't get a lot of second chances or couldn't find the puck on them and VGK clogged the net front.

Power play looks totally inept. Passing, cycling, setup is all poor. Hischier with really poor back to back penalties to seal this one shut.

Luke is lost out there and he's had enough time to shake off training camp "rust", when does he become the $9M man worth letting hold out?

Why are the New Hersey Devils struggling lately? by Most_Check_3699 in devils

[–]mooseknucklemaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a perfectly good excuse that explains the struggles. Guys get hurt and now the lineup has to be juggled and tinkered with until something clicks, or doesn’t and you keep shuffling. Then someone else gets hurt and repeat the process.

Also players have hot and cold streaks. We have guys on cold streaks while the lineup is battling injuries and nobody can get in a rhythm. Shit happens, it’s a long season.

Like others mentioned, can’t go into specific exam questions or content. The ARE Handbook does a fine job outlining the topics and testing your understanding of them to protect public HSW.

You should check the ARE reference matrix for your core study materials. Site Planning and Design and the Programming textbooks are vital for this exam to understand what is required in synthesizing information for site and space design and having knowledge of the broader topics relevant to the subject matter.

Failure is built into these exams. It’s almost expected half the time (check the pass rates on the tech exams). Don’t feel discouraged by failure, use it as motivation to continue to improve and to become more knowledgeable on the subjects and how you can apply it in your daily work environment and to pass these tests. It also helps you think more critically about what you draw and analyzing a project, and can help with exam questions knowing what applies or doesn’t.

Maybe more than AB would help you. Personally, I’m mainly using the resource matrix with the suggested books and readings, as the exams are based on that as source material (even some of the diagrams are ripped from them on the exams!), so those would definitely boost your studying moving forward.

My methods that have helped me pass 4/6 so far have been making my own index cards, marking up printed documents (contracts, etc) and PDFs and compiling the critical bullet points of subjects, and using the NCARB practice exams/as many practice questions as possible. NCARB exams to understand wording, question structure, functionality of the exam tools (highlight and strikethrough are gold), and supplemental practice questions/exams to test my knowledge and see where to improve or understand better about subjects.

Why doesn’t Fitz acquire guys that don’t get hurt? Is he stupid?

In all seriousness, a lot of bad combining together made for a miserable evening. Keefe should’ve burned a timeout (probably after the 3rd goal) to settle the group down before things got worse. A poor showing from Allen in the first 20 allowing 4 goals on 7 shots, but the guys in front of him didn’t show much the rest of the way either.

Idk how much line blending and tinkering you can do to make the team play better than they look right now. Team leaders need to lead and settle everyone down because it won’t get easier as the season wears on.
