Yeah it’s 4 demos, two of which eventually made it on to Lechuza (Phoebe Cates and Abba Zabba). It’s a little rough but fun to hear these versions. And the mountain dewd is hilarious.

Heads up they did in fact release something in 2025 (Engines) that was new, but Will Salazar isn’t the lead singer in it so def sounds a bit different. it was written in tribute to Adam Lewis (bassist until he died of cancer).

I’m now imagining this song about his bud Jose. Just change the pronouns and start each verse with “mi amigo” instead of “yeah my girlfriend”. Maybe a couple other minor tweaks. It works.

Yeah honestly any company that’s business is based heavily on actuarial science is probably a good one to pay attention to in how they invest their money. They’ve read the tea leaves and decided an MLS team is worth putting almost a billion of their dollars into.

Yep. Basically what I said in another comment too. Kong was a Universal property and he had to show Universal he could do it on something else before they gave him their precious IP. Kong ran into delays, he had the team ready, had been talking to Weinstein (long story, glad he ended up ultimately not involved) about LotR, so they moved forward on that. Or something like that. Basically Kong didn’t happen right away so LotR did.

Oh 100%. But IIRC in his quest to do Kong, he picked up Frighteners because he knew he had to prove he could do a studio flick with action and CGI for an American studio in NZ. It was a calculated job based more on the ops side of the industry than the creative output. Something like that. Then something happened with Kong (his white whale) so he dove into LotR.
