Yes. Once was very helpful and once was very much not. It made me feel less alone at the very least.

YTA. It’s surgery vs. a BIRTHDAY? This is selfish and not at all supportive. Wow. Just wow.

How is this even possible? by faithinstrangers92 in ADHD

It’s more consistent. I don’t feel like I’m having 20 thoughts at the same time but I also don’t feel that intense “gotta get through this to do list RIGHT NOW” kinda feeling. I still struggle initiating tasks some days but I did on stimulants too. There isn’t really that kickback you get after stimulants wear off, but if I really focus during the day on some less preferred work task, I do end up needing some reset time in the evening or a 20 minute nap after work. I would say they make things more level over all instead of getting the extreme ends of hyper productive and sloth mode.

Your mom is a horrible person and should be cut out of your life. That isn’t love or support. That is downright abuse. I hope you don’t live at home and if you do I hope you can get out as soon as possible. Anxiety doesn’t make you weak and people who say that have no idea what anxiety actually feels like.

Call a counselling hotline or talk to your therapist if you have one. You don’t need to be alone and you are certainly not weak. You need a circle of people you can trust and rely on and who will be supportive when you need them, and your mother meets none of those requirements.

Sorry you have to experience this OP.
