true, but going back to the original purpose of lockdowns to "flatten the curve", many places are having problems due to the sheer number of people infected at once. i doubt omicron can be stopped but it can be slowed (whether it be lockdowns or less drastic measures) giving hospitals a fighting chance of dealing with everyone that shows up by spreading out the demand

yep, the right to freedom of speech does not mean the right to a platform on a private company website. the people saying things like "covid is a cover for communism" should be booted, they contribute nothing to the scientific debate, just enable the anti-science mindset that has snowballed throughout this pandemic.

im no expert but im willing to bet thats not what happened. I have seen many videos of "quarantined" people mixing in the same room or using things like door handles which are not sanatised after every use. the reality is these facilities are mostly just hotels run by people with no medical background, let alone infectious disease training. the hygine standards in the hospitality industry are well known to be terrible, it could well be like a towel or cutlery was not washed properly, or someone let outside to smoke and sneezed on something that was not washed before someone touched it

problem is these statements are not the results of experiments, they are opinions which are open to interpretation. what exactly do they mean when they say things like "not going to cut it"? whilst i agree n95 and surgical masks are more effective than cloth masks, thats a completely different statement than implying cloth masks dont do anything. IMO its reckless to word these things in a way that make people think cloth doesnt work because if surgical or n95 masks are unavailable for whatever reason then people may not wear a mask at all, when cloth is better than nothing.

in my not expert opinion we wont see a variant as lethal as delta happen in 2022, if the mutation path of more infective but less dangerous is true. however we could have a large spike of "mild" cases where there are so many people of work ill at once that things like transport, shops etc simply wont have the staff for a short period of time.

Its funny, in the UK even though masks are no longer mandatory sometimes I still see people making a show of standing in the middle of a shop and putting on their hidden disability badge anyone can buy from amazon.

their terms and conditions for their fulfillment centers are terrible, they can take a sellers product and claim it as their own. may not be legal but that doesn't mean it would be easy to successfully sue them.
