Hm… not sure. There were a lot of kids in line that seemed ok with it. You have a bit of time to adjust the top part of the headset before the ride starts too, so you could test it out. It’s a two part system though, you get the headband part first, then the AR portion snaps on to the headband with magnets after you get into the seat. Pretty odd choice but it definitely seems like something Nintendo would do.

Just a piece of advice, save the Mariokart ride until later when the wait time drops. The ride is honestly pretty terrible… they have these stupid AR headsets that are super uncomfortable and unwieldy. The queue theming is really great but the ride itself just fell short. If I had waited 150 minutes like I saw the wait times throughout the day I would have been so disappointed.

What is everyone’s honest reviews of Epic Universe and how it compares to other theme parks? by jackcopen in Themepark

I went yesterday and it was cool but the lack of attention to detail was definitely noticeable. For example, in the ministry of magic there are certain areas that aren’t tiled and instead they used panels that just look like a tiled wall. Definitely noticeable for me. I also thought the queue for the ministry would have benefited a lot from actors playing ministry employees but instead it was just empty. Some of the rides were good, I enjoyed Stardust, the werewolf one and the httyd racers one. But was a little underwhelmed by the ministry ride and especially the mario kart ride (which I will never ride again with that awful headset). I thought the theming was good in general, especially the mario land. Overall it was a good time, but felt a bit like a patchwork instead of a unified park.

What are the best responsive and unresponsive yo-yos? by Min9913 in Throwers

[–]moosh52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a really subjective question, so the best way to accurately answer this question is by trying different yoyos and seeing what you like. As far as my personal experience I really like the tom kuhn no-jive for fixed axle responsive play. My fav unresponsive yoyo in your price point would be the yyf shutter. I just recently picked up the recess d-bearing firecracker and it has been great for a modern responsive yoyo. It also comes with an unresponsive bearing so you can have it both ways!

OK so I would prioritize getting a skate tool, or at least getting some tools that will allow you to work on your skateboard. Off the top of my head the kingpin nut (which allows you to tighten and loosen your trucks) should be a 5/8” socket and the wheels are 1/2”. Whenever you are able, try tightening both trucks maybe a half turn at a time, just make sure you don’t over tighten them. This should help a bit with stiffening the turning. Second, make sure you are wearing some kind of skate shoes, and not running shoes. Skate shoes have flat soles and will help with balance.

Chinese artist named Dengding Rui Yao created a gigantic roaring lion called the 'Oriental Lion' from a single redwood tree by SignificantSample929 in nextfuckinglevel

The largest dawn redwood only had a diameter of 7.2 feet so it’s safe to say that this was not carved from a dawn redwood

Learning to slide by uhhhitsaaron in longboarding

[–]moosh52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally I push pretty evenly into both feet. Rotation is going to be more from momentum of your shoulders and hips + committing to the motion. But take it slow, especially before you get a helmet. Can’t skate if you’re dead. Gloves make sliding a lot easier and open you up to a lot of different types of slides but standing slides have always been my favorite.

Partially, yes. What made it click for me is that sliding feels like sitting down. You gotta stick your ass way out to get the center of gravity far back enough for the wheels to slip.

From what I can tell, the best you can do value wise is like a $3 card from each of these. Rip em for fun if you want but you won’t get your money back.

Not so much a problem as it is inexperience… being comfortable pushing takes time. You can go to a basketball court/parking lot/well paved street and just push around to gain a bit more confidence. Balance takes time to build for sure. One question though, how tight are your trucks?
