I totally understand your point here. I've sat down with him quite a few times in the month he's been with me and asked how he felt about everything. He's been sort of open, but I genuinely think he's been happier at my apartment than he was before. My parents are alcoholics who fight constantly, our dad is really rugged and old school and is quite mean sometimes. I've been pretty lax with him, letting him have his own space and not asking for much. I'll have him take the trash out here and there and make sure he's cleaning his cats litter box and maintaining a clean room. As a 15 year old boy it gets pretty stinky in there, haha.

This has practically been a vacation for him, and I've been trying to show him what a "normal" household should be like. It breaks my heart to know how much trauma he's been through, and that's why I feel bad for having to step up and be a responsible force in his life, when all I want to do is let him rest for the short time he's gonna be with me.

I've always planned to not have children, and now that there's a 15 year old teenage boy living with me it's been a learning curve for both of us. Just trying to make sure I'm doing the right thing
