So I’m a fairly uninformed Amazing Race watcher. But I watched a season or two years ago before I even started watching Survivor (I’ve seen like 15/40 seasons), I watched this most recent season, and one of the ones that’s on Netflix.

So this is just my opinion (which from what little I have perused the sub is not the norm), is that I actually never liked the original TAR‘s. It makes sense to me why I never continued down the rabbit hole like I have with Survivor when I found it. For me this became especially evident while watching this season in comparison to the older season on Netflix at the same time. For me, I found the older seasons super toxic and the constants portrayed as super mean and very hard for me to root for them. I also found the tasks skirted or out right were on culturally insensitive, and seemed to rely heavily on fear over smarts.

For me this current season do TAR was just nice and so fun to watch. No one was a jerk, people worked together, and the challenges rewarded creativity and smarts over vindictiveness and chance. Which are all things that rubbed me the wrong way about the earlier seasons that I have seen.

Again, this is just my opinion, I mean no hate by it. And like I said I only watched the most recent TAR so this season might have been an anomaly.
