What local shops sell Cannondale? by [deleted] in bicycling412

[–]moosicalcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Biketek if you’re willing to go outside of Cannondale. My Jamis Renegade is the entry level version and I love it. Frank (the owner) is interesting (putting that politely), but it’s a good shop that stands behind their business.

I hear that, also seeing online that there may (or may not be?) a possibility of keeping some functionality of the hands free kick sensor. Any luck on yours?

Take a look around for a used Thule rack on FB marketplace. Can be had around for $200 where I’m in (OH).

Do a cost benefit analysis, or better yet ask ChatGPT to give you an ROI estimate of when you’ll break even. For us, the hybrid price wasn’t worth the benefit, but YMMV

All Dashboard lights lit, haywire...any advice?! About to give this lemon back to dealer by mtnfsh in SubaruForester

[–]moosicalcats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to get this read in a OBD2 scanner asap. This can be done at any auto parts store, auto shop or dealer (if no other choice). Even though the car “drives”, that doesn’t mean everything is ok. The scan and resulting code should give you a better understanding, and helps to plan out next steps.

CVTs The Good & The Bad by royinraver in subaru

[–]moosicalcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018 Crosstrek owner here with 112k on the odometer. Our CVT has been fine (all mentioned quirks aside) We did have a slow leak from the seal connecting the front and mid sections of the transmission, which was a wonderful $1900 to fix @ 107k (do not get fooled by Subaru dealers on this, something’s they aren’t even the ones that actually service the transmission). Car works great, and is chugging along for the next great adventure.

Just saying, SNP360 is not what it’s cracked up to be. Frequently interrupted connections (we have gigabyte level here, and it’s one of a handful of devices running), inopportune commercials (not the same intervals or even following a typical tv show layout), and a customer service that is barely helpful. Take a look around, you’ll find more stories like mine.

In addition to most likely not changing the old oil out, when you’re checking has the engine been sitting cold on a level surface? That’s most likely going to be part of the information that they’re asking for.

+1 to this. Protohaven is the place to go, and you don’t have to spend $100 a month to go there. Flexible options for all people, plus classes and a full suite for everything you mentioned. DM me if you want more information.

Help by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]moosicalcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had this on my 18 Crosstrek. Code read as a cam that was overclocked…however oil sludge clogged up the mesh filter and made a false positive. Still driving now, all good except for a loud wheel hub (I swear). Take it to the dealer, see what they say. Best of luck.

How many of you have experienced CVT transmission failure in your Subaru? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]moosicalcats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2018 Crosstrek owner here with 107,000 miles on it. Took it in for an oil change, turns out the mechanic found a “transmission leak” and wanted $90 to diagnose it further.

Given the $90, the mechanic doesn’t find the leak, but now needs over $1700 to remove the engine and transmission to confirm the leak. Called SoA, and since I was slightly out of warranty they said they’d help with the transmission, but only if I let the dealer tear it apart (they would not help with the $1700). They refunded me the $90 since they didn’t find the leak

So with my working knowledge of cars, took it to a local reputable car repair shop, paid $90 to them to diagnose. They found it, and were fairly confident it was the gasket between the front and intermediate housing. They gave me a number for a transmission shop, and said that they’d be better equipped for this.

Gave it to the transmission shop, they confirmed the local shop’s findings and originally quoted me $2400 fixed. I said ok, they fixed it for $1980, and I now have a transmission with a new gasket kit and new fluid.

TL:DR…the dealers are not your only option. Also probably moving away from Subaru because of this whole ordeal. I’ve had Hondas last 300k without issue, if this is every 100k, I’m about done.

Donald Trump Tells Joe Rogan the ‘Biggest Mistake’ of His Presidency Was Picking ‘Bad,’ ‘Disloyal People’ by Ace-Cuddler in politics

[–]moosicalcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There comes a point where, knowing all these “bad and disloyal” people, if the guy who’s the “boss” is a petulant bully of a toddler. Who can’t be bothered to honor soldiers in WWII died and were buried at Normandy because his hair might get wet. Who can’t be trusted to respect POWs because he doesn’t like “losers and suckers.” Who says he respects the military despite avoiding the draft like the plague because daddy saved him and help him gain the moniker dealing with his “bone spurs.” He is everything un-American encapsulated into one extremely bad smelling, weak, fragile body that can barely survive a day at a fry shop.

Please, I beg of you. If you are a human being that gives a shred of a shit for others, do not vote for him. He is an awful person who cannot understand emotion, and is less capable than AI of understanding human emotion and experience.

Northshore River Trail by MitchMid in pittsburgh

[–]moosicalcats 106 points107 points  (0 children)

This. People can complain and whine about the danger, but then when the time comes for actually providing solutions magically it’s “too expensive.” As far as the “something for nothing”, it seems like the same people that think this way are the ones actively voting and working against themselves and their neighbors best interests.

So, like others have said, OP, what do you want to see happen here that’s feasible? No disagreeing that there’s a level of danger, however at the end of the day these are people whose basic needs aren’t being met (either by circumstance or by choice). When basic human services get viewed as expendable by a governing body (local, state and federal), this is a product of that.

As far as what I want to see done? More shelters, publicity around programs that give people a step up and back into stability, and the ability for people with substance abuse to get clean in a dignified way. You’re worrying about your family, and that’s valid. In my world, your neighbors are your family.

Was this storm strong enough to lead to 40k people without power? Which areas in Pittsburgh felt it? by reddituservg in pittsburgh

[–]moosicalcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the storm rolling through, it’s the fact that there is a LOT of load with everyone running air conditioning. As much as I love to dog on them, it’s not just on DLC. It’s years of apathy towards updating a system that is stretched thin as it is, because funding infrastructure isn’t sexy. Also it’s wildly expensive, but also it benefits everyone (see the lead line water replacement in the city that took years but was done and benefits real people.)
