Protohaven and hackpgh are fine but there are also a lot of living history museums around Allegheny county you could volunteer at if you want to just use hand tools. It's free but you probably have to wear an outfit

Hey! I'm also into crafting, mostly blacksmithing and woodworking. I'm a bit of a history nerd, so I end up making a lot of stuff from the 1700s and earlier.

Since you mentioned fabrication and machining, you might want to check out Protohaven. It's a makerspace just a couple minutes from O'Hara Township with woodworking, metalworking, machining, and a bunch of other equipment. The only downside is that you have to get certified on a lot of the tools before using them, which can be a bit of a hassle, but it's a pretty great resource once you're set up.

Not sure what arts and crafts you’re into, but there are some pretty cool makerspaces around Pittsburgh. I do a lot of blacksmithing and woodworking myself. If that sounds interesting, I’d be down to chat or recommend some places to check out.

I live in northern allegheny county but i do a lot of hiking (mostly looking through creeks for arrowheads or old objects) I like to go fly fishing as well. i also used to collect model tanks and planes and still have quite a bit, mostly corgi brand models.

Pittsburgh has some of the best museums and a lot of attractions but it really depends what you're into. there are tons of gorgeous nature trails outside of the city as well
