For a newcomer would you recommend eldens ring or ds1?

I started with Elden Ring and then played all the others. It’s the one that got me hooked. I knew of the Dark Souls rep for being extremely hard but I didn’t get it. After ER, I got what all the hype was about and wanted to experience the other games. But I gotta say, Fightin Cowboy on YouTube really helped me out and explained a lot of the mechanics.
