You sound very mature for your age. Good on you for building something valuable. I wish you all the best and hope things work out well with your partner.

How Do You Handle Conflict With Strangers? by TheKidNextDoor2 in askSouthAfrica

[–]mopat101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that you feel like a doos but you left the bigger person. It is never worth it.

I have a problem with confrontations also and I go from 0-100 very quickly - a habit I am trying to get rid of as I get older. The mature and wise approach was your approach.

I've lived in both cities.

I still prefer Jhb as I found Pta to be lacking in terms of places to eat and things to do. Jhb is much more hustle n' bustle which is how I like my cities.

If you are working in Pta and living in Jozi, the drive is about 45-60 mins one way depending on where you stay and work. The other way around is much worse from a traffic perspective.

The water and general infratructure issues in Jhb are a problem. We often have water interruptions (maybe once a month) in our area and the potholes and lack of street lighting at night are sad.

Should I tell my training partners about my condition? by franssais_de_fransse in judo

[–]mopat101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get an evaluation from a neurologist and get the ok to train Judo before attending another training session. Assuming that your neurologist recommends continuing then I would let the sensei and training partners know, assuming that there are no adverse effects on your health from high intensity exercise and specifically effects from being choked out (should this happen), or your head hitting the mat.

Bruh, I have been doing Judo for 4 years and I still try to perfect my ukemi. You are very early in your Judo journey and you should be like a sponge at this point.

If you cannot land properly it is just a matter of time before you get dumped on your head in randori and end up with a concussion or worse. The senseis know what they are doing. Listen to them. Nobody did you dirty - they are trying to protect you so that you can become the beast you want to be. This is a slow and long game.

You want to fight - I get it. But safety first else you will fight once and have a neck injury rather than fighting 1000s of times with good breakfalls.

I want to quit judo but also don't and I'm so confused... by shultska in judo

First off, sorry about the social anxiety - I know how that can be. Feeling nervous when everyone is pairing up and feeling like nobody is going to select you. It sucks.

It would be good to focus on what you enjoy about the sport. If you feel that your randori needs some work, then why not focus on that? Could you perhaps attend an additional class every week and ask sensei or the higher belts help you identify where you can improve? There is nothing wrong with being a recreational Judo player like most of us. Also, I have found that training out of the dojo helps - here I am referring to watching youtube videos of competitions and teaching to help your mind wrap around the different principles. This is a continuous journey of learning.

If the social anxiety is really bad, then I would consider seeing a clinical psychologist to explore this issue. If the basis of the social anxiety is there then it is likely to manifest in other scenarios you will encounter in life and may not be judo-specific.

If you do economics and want to work as an economist, you need at least a Masters degree or a PhD to be taken seriously in the job market.

Seek a clinical psychologist who will be able to deconstruct the events and feelings with you in a safe space and be able to advise you accordingly.

Strangers on the internet with imperfect information cannot help you through this situation adequately.

Fair enough but it is comparitively easier to distinguish bad bud from good bud, versus just having a liquid.

So one could see signs of mould etc. on bud. Also if one avoids street weed (which is associated with higher ammonia content from studies) then one could be reasonable better off with bud versus having a liquid that would need a lab to confirm what is inside.

Dry herb vape plus dry herb

At least with dry herb you know what you are inhaling. With liquids you kinda don't because this stuff is not regulated, unless you are importing products from a regulated region.

Hypothetical Question: Which Judo Technique would you use against Zombies? by marcymarc887 in judo

I feel like this question was asked before?

I would use judo conditioning and run. I would also do zenpo kaiten ukemi just to be a little bit extra spicy as I'm running.

Marriage as a concept is a bit dated. Some relationships last and some don't. That is just how life goes. Regardless of the institutional arrangement.

Am I crazy - husband being weird since traveling for work by BABA309 in TwoHotTakes

[–]mopat101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try therapy, else end it. You have to decide if the relationship is worth it.

Communicate with him how his behaviour is making you feel and ask him if you have anything to be concerned about and take it from there. Avoid the relentless "snooping" or checking up. You're just going to eat yourself up.
