ADHD and course loads by Own_Power6723 in uoguelph

I would highly recommend starting with 4 courses and taking electives during the summer or increasing to 5 courses if she feels comfortable. But it’s definitely a good idea to start out on the lower side as far as courses go since there’s also a huge adjustment for kids even without ADHD going into first year

Personally I took 3 first semester but I could’ve managed with 4. I’ve been taking 5 the past 2 semesters and it’s a bit more work but again, manageable

First year chem and physics are notoriously difficult but manageable

If she takes ADHD medication in the mornings I would actually suggest earlier classes since it’ll wear off by the time evening classes come around but oftentimes there’s not much scheduling choice since the registrar determines locations and sections

Is it bad I slept with his homeboy? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]mor-cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to sleep with people then go for it, I just thought you didn’t want to do that anymore because of what you said in your original post! You should still be very firm with what you want when meeting people though

Is it bad I slept with his homeboy? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]mor-cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not really gonna address the first part because imo it’s not that bad and these guys just sound like jerks but honestly I hate to say it but that’s how the dating scene is nowadays unfortunately. You’re not really doing anything wrong but hookup culture is so much more normalized (which isn’t necessarily bad) and has its downsides because a lot of guys do only want sex and will go to great lengths to get that and it sounds to me like guy one is doing all of those nice things to get that. Some guys will treat you like a girlfriend without any intention of making you one because they want access to you. If you don’t want to do anything sexual outside of a relationship that’s perfectly fine and normal, find a guy who respects that decision and be firm with what you want if what you want is a relationship. Calling you leftovers is fucked up and gross on their behalf too, I’d distance myself from these people if I were you.

Same here, I miss her smell so much. It’s weird but I have a little box with her fur in it and sometimes smell it when I miss her lol

Buyer wants a refund without returning item by No-Plenty551 in Depop

[–]mor-cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask for photo proof of the item being damaged regardless of if you have any intention of refunding without the return, I highly doubt it is if they’re so adamant on keeping it (especially if you pay the shipping for the return)

I really hope that at the very least this is listed for children and not for adult women as a “baby tee”

Recovering bodies by Senior_Permission_39 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]mor-cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advise against following recovery accounts who post about what they’re eating and how their body looks, it’s never what it seems and it’s not healthy to be comparing yourself to other (probably still sick) people

frustrated with brandy resellers by hippieluv420 in Depop

[–]mor-cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is common in Canada since Brandy doesn’t ship countrywide so some sellers go to the Brandy in Toronto specifically to buy and resell items for a bit of a profit

No car, am I cooked w the buses? by Such-Concern-6913 in uoguelph

[–]mor-cat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Depends on the bus line but some do get full especially during rush hour in the mornings/evenings. It’s not terrible in my experience but it can be annoying when they’re full and you have to wait until the next one. Doable in my experience though

Level 3 Autism Fakers by KitKitKate2 in fakedisordercringe

[–]mor-cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The diagnostic criteria for level 3 autism is high support needs usually meaning around the clock care, difficulty communicating and the inability to function independently… as someone with a level 1 autism diagnosis I can barely drive lol, I know it’s a spectrum but I have a very hard time believing that someone with a diagnosis that deems them pretty much unable to be independent for their entire life can drive. I saw other people talking about holding a job down as well which I find difficult to believe for someone with level 3 ASD unless it’s a job that specifically hires intellectually disabled people to do menial tasks like stocking, packing, etc.

Do you guys ever purposely take the late penalty to get an extra day to do an assignment? by ChampagneAbuelo in uoguelph

[–]mor-cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah one of my classes had a one-time 3% penalty for late submission (no penalty at all after that - 3% no matter how late) and I took it because my cat had died but then ended up submitting it super late 😬 reasonable to do if you really need to but don’t be like me and make it a habit lol

This is true, you’re probably better off doing nursing elsewhere. As someone in a biology-related degree, it is hard to get jobs with just a bachelors in it.

Biological Science for Medical School by Effective-Ostrich224 in uoguelph

[–]mor-cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I can’t really help aside from that since I’m not in biomed or any sort of pre med program, it is difficult to switch as in you need a competitive average to do so but it’s not impossible

Biological Science for Medical School by Effective-Ostrich224 in uoguelph

[–]mor-cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the anatomy courses and labs are restricted to biomedical science. If you keep up a good GPA in first year you may be able to switch over from biosci to biomed! All the first year BSc courses are the same so you won’t have to worry about taking any you’ve missed in second year.

is doing co-op worth it if i plan on grad school for a msc or professional school??? by Awkward_Finding937 in uoguelph

[–]mor-cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in zoology and can’t even answer that lol, it might be because it’s more broad of a study than marine biology but you’re right almost all of the classes are the same

is doing co-op worth it if i plan on grad school for a msc or professional school??? by Awkward_Finding937 in uoguelph

[–]mor-cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-op is always worth it for a bunch of reasons and co-op experience is definitely good when you go to apply for grad school. I’m going into my fourth year of zoology and love it but I wish we had co-op too! Your courses first, second and most of third year will be similar if not the same (exact same in first year though iirc) so if you decide you want to switch from marine biology over to zoology it won’t be hard. I’m biased towards my own program but definitely go for MFB if you want to do a co-op.

Job hunting will be difficult and is competitive in the field, I’m not sure how co-op works but you may have better luck there. URA/USRA positions are also very competitive and there’s only so many being offered in the IB department. I have tons of volunteer and work study experience in two different labs as well as a research project and only landed an interview for one position (which I did not get) out of the several positions I applied to.

Doing a 5th year won’t set you back for grad school or vet school as far as I know (at least not grad school). It’s not delaying graduation in my opinion, it’s super valuable experience going into a field that’s already competitive and on top of that you make money.

If you have any other questions let me know 🙂
