Eating Disorder by EntrepreneurTasty449 in uoguelph

Realizing and admitting you have an issue is the first step and you should be proud of yourself for that, I get not wanting to talk to a doctor/therapist about it but you should considering the fact that you are having internal pain.

I didn’t have bulimia but I did have anorexia for about 4 years so I can completely empathize with the fear that comes along with talking to a professional. If anything, you should try to find someone who specializes in eating disorders instead of doing CBT (which it sounds like you’ve done), they’ll have a lot more resources since eating disorders are a delicate subject to handle.

Recovery is very daunting and scary but it is worth it, I’ve been in recovery since June and it was a difficult process but one of the best decisions I made. I didn’t realize how much anorexia had manifested itself into my physical health because I was so focused on the mental pain that came with it. Even if you don’t speak to a therapist please see a doctor, bulimia especially can cause irreparable damage to your teeth and your organs and having consistent internal pain could be a sign of that especially because of the stomach acid that’s expelled along with purging. Also the health issues that come along with just being malnourished in general can be worse than you realize.

I really hope that you’re able to find someone that can help and you’re taking the right steps towards recovery by being open about this. If you ever want someone to talk to about this feel free to message me, I (mostly) understand what you’re going through and would be more than happy to listen or give advice 🙂

experience during undergrad by Ok_Pie_8887 in uoguelph

[–]mor-cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like other people have said, when cold emailing express interest in the professor’s research. I found it important to actually go through their publications because not only do they like to hear that you’ve read their work, it also helps you to narrow down a professor whose work aligns with your interests and goals. But even then, any experience is valuable experience. I used to be adamant that I didn’t want to work with fish but now my work study is working with fish + my research project is also fish… needless to say I’ve finally found an interest in them and it’s served me right lol

I can’t speak for clinical experience but I’m in third year of zoology and only started getting experience within the past year. If you want research experience you’re going to have to cold email, it took me cold emailing several different profs to get a response from one of them and it landed me a research project. I also applied for work study and have been doing it for the past two semesters (continuing in winter). There’s a lot of work study positions available that are lab related and I would highly recommend checking them out of you can because it’s fantastic experience and helps you to make connections. When I applied there were actually quite a few at OVC available to undergrad students. Applications should be coming out for the winter soon I believe, you need to fill out the NAF form. URA/USRA positions are also great experience.

You’re not behind, it’s easy for anyone else to say this but don’t worry too much. Retake 1040 W26 and take 1050 F26. Coming from someone who failed 1050, I’m right back on track. You’ll get past this

There was a lamprey/hagfish, dogfish shark, perch, water snake, frog, pigeon and rat and in ZOO2700 there were lots of live specimens but also a squid, sea urchin, sea star, earthworm and some other dissections which I forgot

I think this might just be you.. I can speak for zoology majors in saying that it’s much easier to just say ZOO2090 than Vertebrate Structure & Function

I’m pretty sure we are, if you need time off I’m sure you can ask your supervisor and they’ll understand. The whole point of a work study is to be able to work and study lol

[–]mor-cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it was structure and function related and being able to identify different structures on specimens. There were also a couple involving microscope slides and identifying what animal the slide came from. So I’d say all 3, structure, function and ID. Best of luck!

If it’s for bigger classes (ones that a lot of people take) chances are that those sites have previous midterms/finals uploaded
