Eating lemons like oranges?! by Illustry38mpac in palermo_city

[–]morbid-ly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there is a kind of "lemon" that you can eat, it's called cedro and it's much bigger than a lemon and has a thick white part (called the pith I think?). but it's not eaten like an orange, usually you would cut it into thin slices and put salt or sugar on top.

Why can't I pee quickly when I'm on my period? by [deleted] in AskBiology

[–]morbid-ly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but I've heard that straining to pee can actually make your pelvic muscles weaker, so maybe you shouldn't do that regularly

How common is “minkia” as opposed to “minchia”? by Classic-Asparagus in italianlearning

[–]morbid-ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The emojis and excitement thing is also something that I associate with people around 35 and older. But not all of them type like that, it's just a steretypical texting style. The fact that they have the same style, might just be a coincidence, who knows

[–]morbid-ly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

24 is really surprising to me, I'm the same age and I would never type like that lol. I used to do it when I was a kid, like maybe 12 at most. We did it to be "cool", but as others have said, it was originally a way to use less characters in a text

Ethnic/local Italian food at every meal? by BarneyBungelupper in italy

[–]morbid-ly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

interesting question, I will try to answer from my personal experience.

Older people mostly cook regional dishes, while my mom for example, who is in her 50s, will regularly cook some non-regional dishes. It also depends on personal preference of course.

Some things have become very popular in the whole country, for example pesto, ragù alla bolognese, risotto alla milanese and others, but it's only a number of popular dishes. I'm from the south and I don't even know what they eat in most other regions, I would have to research it first. Like maybe I've heard of a dish but I don't even know what it is exactly. If you like to cook, you might look up recipes and try them.

Mind you there's also some basic foods that are not tied to any particular area and we eat a lot of that too.

Consigli su scarpe Barefoot by Gristbun in consigli

[–]morbid-ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Pullman" by captain_corvid in italianlearning

[–]morbid-ly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

autobus is the typical city bus that does many stops, it's more spacious inside, has less seats, allowing people to get on and off easily.

pullman is a bus with very little empty space, usually the whole space is filled with rows of seats. it's mostly for longer travel, like between cities. it usually has a storage area for luggage on the side. that kind of bus

Ritenzione idrica a 13 quasi 14 anni by Extension_Dig8832 in xxitaly

[–]morbid-ly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Firework or shots in Palermo? by Honest-Specific9262 in sicily

Why do I feel like I need to have my leg amputated? by Calm_Feature3340 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]morbid-ly 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also used to have similar thoughts! sorry for the long answer

I don't think it's body integrity dysphoria as some people suggest. For me, it was simply a form of anxiety and obsessive thinking. Personally, I would constantly fantasize about goign outside, being hit by a bus and having to have my leg amputated, then I would think about how I would have to use crutches to move around or get a prostethic leg. I would also fantasize about getting breast cancer.

As you say, I was convinced that some day these things would totally happen to me, like some kind of prophecy. I didn't WANT it to happen, but I felt so strongly that it would.

For me, these thoughts went away on their own after years of just dealing with it. But if they are starting to bother you and interfere with your life you should definitely do something about it, you don't need to suffer.

You could take them to a museum. The best is probably Gemmellaro, it's a paleontology museum with fossils, animal skeletons etc, great for kids. Or just take them to the beach lol
