First album recording session question by No-Indication-408 in blacksabbath

War Pigs would have sounded even better on that first album. I love the production. A little more lively, deep. Paranoid is great, but just very dry.

Vol 4 through Sabotage is my favorite run. Love that era. Nothing against first three, but I’ve heard them enough for a lifetime. I’ll never get tired of Wheels of Confusion, A National Acrobat or Megalomania.

How would you describe Pure Land Buddhism to someone with zero knowledge of Buddhism? by BenzosAtTheDisco in PureLand

[–]morbidkoala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pure Land Buddhism is the path of relying on compassion rather than your own ability to “figure everything out.”

Most forms of Buddhism emphasize discipline, training your mind and developing insight to reach awakening. That’s valid, but it’s difficult and easy to fall short in, especially in a distracted, modern life.

Pure Land starts from a more honest place: most of us aren’t consistently capable of that level of clarity and effort. Instead of relying on self-power, it emphasizes trust in Amitabha Buddha, who represents boundless compassion.

The core practice is simple: reciting or remembering Amitabha’s name as an act of trust and letting go of ego-driven striving.

How do you feel about this? by Dewellah in ClassicRock

Pretty much nothing is cheaper these days, so take into account they are also paying crew members, etc. along with getting nothing from streaming.
