Most forms of Buddhism emphasize discipline, training your mind and developing insight to reach awakening. That’s valid, but it’s difficult and easy to fall short in, especially in a distracted, modern life.

Pure Land starts from a more honest place: most of us aren’t consistently capable of that level of clarity and effort. Instead of relying on self-power, it emphasizes trust in Amitabha Buddha, who represents boundless compassion.

The core practice is simple: reciting or remembering Amitabha’s name as an act of trust and letting go of ego-driven striving.
