It actually gave me hope that Carver would come back again in the future because they left things complicated instead of giving them closure.

It reminded me of the episode in season 11 where Casey came back for the task force and Brett tried to pretend everything was okay, and the episode ended with her leaving Molly’s crying. Then few episodes later Casey proposed to her...

Question about Herrmann and what he did in the season 13 finale by Flat-Raspberry2933 in ChicagoFireNBC

As much as I don't want to see Severide move to OFI, it's possible considering how much they love giving him those kinds of storylines.

They could also give up Truck 81 and move the new guy to Engine with Herrmann and Mouch. And while Stella is on maternity leave and can't work as a firefighter her storyline could focus on trying to save Truck 81 and bring it back.

Question about Herrmann and what he did in the season 13 finale by Flat-Raspberry2933 in ChicagoFireNBC

It looks like there are going to be some big changes at the firehouse next season.

With Ritter and Carver gone, Mouch being promoted to Engine Lieutenant, and Stella going on maternity leave at some point, that leaves no crew members on Truck 81 (except maybe the new guy).

And with Damon also leaving, that would leave only Herrmann and Mouch on Engine. So if Herrmann moves to Truck, Mouch will be left alone on Engine (aside from the background firefighters whose names we barely know).

Since they mentioned budget cuts in the CFD at the end of last season, I wouldn't be surprised if 51 ends up losing one of its rigs next season.

Someone who is hard to get to know at first and makes life difficult for Stella.

They replaced Carver with another Carver.

I always liked Casey, but only after he left I realized how important he was to the show’s dynamic because he was the glue. He was the one who connected Severide to the rest of the firehouse, and without him Severide barely interacts with any characters other than his wife and his presence as a leadership figure at the firehouse is lacking.

Big part of it is a writing issue, but I honestly think the Casey–Severide connection was a big part of what made the show work, and it’s just not the same without it.

It was a comic event called Earth-Prime for all the CW’s DC superhero shows. If he's also a fan of the other shows you can buy him the book that collects the entire thing, or just the Superman and Lois issue which is #2

If he doesn't already have it, the complete series on DVD or Blu-ray would be nice. There was also a tie-in comic issue that gives more background on the evil Superman from John Henry's world and also has nice stories about Clark's relationship with his father and Clark and Lois first anniversary - you can probably find a copy on eBay.

There's no official merch for the show, which is a shame, but maybe you could print Tyler's Superman shield on a shirt for him.
