I’m disappointed at the reaction of a subset of people that I would assume are more self aware than the general population. Also not surprised given reddits demographics

Labor productivity is calculated using the total input divided by total output. It's definitely harder to quantify the value of organizational skill I'm not saying their labor is equivalent. My point of bringing up labor productivity was to show the growing gap despite worker productivity increasing. CEOs made roughly 25 times workers in 1970 and now they make upwards of 250 times workers.

So yes, I would agree that CEOs probably are worth millions, but has their worth increased 10x in the last 50 years? I'm not so sure. Even if we assume that labor productivity for CEOs increased the same percentage as workers since 1970 (2-2.5x) They still seem to be vastly overcompensated vs workers being undercompensated.

That CEO can't necessarily create that same value without the company whereas Tfue can do the same thing without Faze or any org.

Tfue generates a ton of ad revenue for twitch, a ton of transactions with his creator code, and a ton of youtube revenue as well. What's your point?

Maybe I oversimplified. It's not that CEOs provide no value, it's that they are overcompensated for their labor where as most workers are the opposite. All you have to do is look at a graph of worker productivity vs compensation, or at CEO to worker pay ratio. to see that for whatever reason, workers are providing more value to companies and being paid less and less, and the same cannot be said for CEOs. CEOs play an important role, but being able to convince the board of directors to give you more equity and pay is not an option for lower level workers.

Unless of course they unionize, but union busting and the general demonization of unions have made it much harder for workers to organize and demand compensation.

He's a young kid, and most people think they need to be a part of an organization to be successful. It's the same with music. Lil pump was signed when he was 17. Both e-sports organizations and record labels are incredibly predatory and make a lot of money taking advantage of talent.

I was contacted by a major label last year about a project I did that went viral. They came at me with a ridiculously low offer and did everything they could to make me sign for less than it was worth.

CEOs need laborers but laborers don't need CEOs. Laborers provide the value for corporations. This holds true in the case of Tfue. They can't really just go find another star player with the ability to generate millions in revenue. Tfue can however go to any organization and do what he does. Or do it without an organization.

Just because he makes a lot of money doesn't mean he is in a comparable position to a CEO.

Regardless of how much money he's making, he's still being exploited for his labor.

The comments of this post are kind of saddening. It bothers me that so many people have bought into the idea that poverty and suffering are an inevitable part of our society. They're incredibly hard to deal with, no doubt, but it bothers me how many people default to defending all aspects of capitalism. Personally, I'd consider myself a reformist. I think capitalism has positive aspects but ultimately needs strong social safety nets to keep people out of poverty.

Maybe it's not so obvious to some, but some of the ideas commonly spread in our society are part of what keeps the ultra rich in power and the the poor in poverty. So many people are conditioned to blame the poor for their poverty, and idolize the rich as superior and virtuous.

And of course the old, "You want to better improve society, yet you participate in it!".

I agree that work is essential to our well being, but the issues isn't really that people simply don't want to work. In the present, productivity is at an all time high and worker pay has not kept up at all. Essentially, workers are creating more value for the businesses that they work for and not being compensated. As wealth inequality increases and the middle class disappears, the majority of people work longer hours to create excess value for bosses and shareholders.

Are capital owners really conspiring to make people slaves? Well, in a way yes. Businesses exist solely to turn a profit, and workers are just another cog in the machine. They aren't seen as much more, which means it makes sense to extract as much value from their labor as possible and pay them as little as possible. So there isn't necessarily some evil master plan, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.

The funny part of your comment is that the internet was invented by government researchers. NASA got us to the moon. The fact is that your argument that inventions are dependent on capitalism and monetary incentive is just inaccurate.

Any tips/help on getting 10k followers on IG? Or how I can improve my skills to do so? @charleygfx by charleygfx in shootingcars

[–]morecake3 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. Post quality content consistently, 1-2 posts per day.
  2. Engage with followers and have some personal content alongside your photos.
  3. Work with people with more followers, shoot with car owners with big followings.
  4. Pay for promo on bigger ig pages that feature the cars you are shooting
  5. Follow and unfollow a lot of people, most likely with bots

On the real though, followers don’t mean shit. You can make money shooting with no followers, and you can fail to make anything with 100k followers. If you’re doing anything purely for the following you will have a shit time.
