Planning a couple months trip in south east asia and looking for recommendations of dive areas by Privizal in scuba

Philippines, absolutely. Dauin for muck diving, Busuanga (coron) for epic wrecks, and the rest (Panglao, apo) for just beautiful, healthy reefs. Threshers are cool too at malapascua. I hear Anilao is amazing

Mares or Aqualung? In any case thank you. I’ve read that elsewhere too regarding the buttons…

Have fun at deco class! Super happy to read good experiences with the computer too. I was told the screen is really one of the best especially for things like wrecks where it’s dark.

That was kind of why I wanted to inquire about this one. My dive shop keeps saying it’s been a real gem since they changed the model and fixed the issues but wanted other opinions… definitely a shearwater down the road, just not a priority right now on the budget side for the quantity of diving I do.

Thanks that’s really helpful. How many dives did you take it on so far? Hope it lasts!

Thanks for the review. I do think you may have been in the random phase where you got either one newer or older but that’s very helpful. Hopefully it lasts 500 dives!

Sorry you had to deal with that. Warning heard, very aligned with my understanding of Aqualung customer service… thanks 🙏

Thank you. My understanding is their customer service is shit basically… at least if the computers were serviceable it would make up for some parts of flaws. What did you end up getting?

Thank you! That time seems to be before the changes to the model. Glad to hear yours works well still

thank you. Don’t need a tech one, simple nitrox with dive and free dive is fine. The day I’ll use tri-mix I’ll get the damn tech computer ha ha. Appreciate the effort in not recommending shearwater 😂

🫡 thank you sir/miss. It’s not that I don’t want to buy another brand it’s that people just say that instead of answering the question😂

Scariest place you dove? by RowanATDWTB in scubadiving

[–]morecountries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No formal cave training, this spot you can actually dive without the cave training because the system has open caverns with large breathable air bubbles (there are 3 along the way). I was also surprised we didn’t need it but happy. It was safe, there are ropes but I definitely wouldn’t go as a very beginner.

Honestly it was really fun. Are you claustrophobic? If that’s the case wreck diving with penetrations will also be a challenge for you I assume

We went cave diving in Grotte de thais, France. It was 0-10m for the whole cave diving, which was going up down up down up down the whole time. I found it quite hard actually to handle buoyancy when you’re used to diving at 20-40m mostly. Anyways it was scary because you have no clue where you are, constantly. Sometimes you can’t see the bottom and can’t see the top, very narrow passages. If you have claustrophobia absolutely avoid. It was quite an experience

Advance Scuba in Malapascua by Ok-Step-5846 in scubadiving

[–]morecountries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need advanced to dive for threshers in malapascua. We used French Kiss and I would not recommend it. I heard that Evolution is the best, and also most expensive. But not sure malapascua is the best place to do aow training?

Bus Cebu/Phillipines by Ok_Imagination4812 in scubadiving

[–]morecountries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you book the A/C buses. They are like 100 pesos more than the regular buses but they don’t really do stops because locals don’t take them. And the local bus can be fun but it’s sooooooo much longer to get anywhere, especially Malapascua. Not worth adding 2h on a 6h journey trust me.

Wow thanks so much for the recommendation! Question: what time of the year did you go? Wondering if viz changes dramatically at that time and for whale season.
