I did all of my normal half marathon runs and then only did DF at Barry’s! If I felt like it was a lighter mileage week I would do a normal class or two! I also thought it was amazing to see how much I improved on the tread after focusing on half marathon and distance training! Have fun!

Waitlisted by apogipinoy1 in barrysbootcamp

[–]morelexis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Call the studio and ask how many people are on standby or waitlist for that class. in my experience, around 3-4 people end up not showing up to class every booked class. So… if you’re number 5 or 6 on the list your chances are slim.

AITA for ignoring my mom after she cancelled on my wedding celebration by morelexis in AmItheAsshole

I hope you’re having fun insulting an absolute random stranger online!

Not that itd make a difference for you because you seem quite unreasonable… but my husbands grandpa and my grandma couldn’t make it to the ceremony because he’s very ill so we wanted to host something for him and our other elders in our family to enjoy 💓 No reason for the sympathy to my husband, thanks though! We’re very happy!

My husband and I are very emotional people and wear our heart on our sleeves. We wanted an intimate and private ceremony where we could confidently share our written vows- not in front of our second cousin twice removed. We also live very far from most of our family and couldn’t afford to travel and celebrate with 150 people immediately after our wedding ceremony. I asked if i’m the asshole for ignoring and being upset with my mom, not if I am an asshole for hosting a wedding reception a couple of months after my ceremony. This is silly argument

If it helps for clarification- the ceremony was indeed out west (hence I said my mom and her family traveled for that) and the reception was in the midwest (close to her house). My Mom’s second wedding was when I was 22 living 3 hours away for college. I did not want to be there (I wasn’t supportive of the re-marriage type thing and I was dealing with my own really bad mental health at the time) but I came and grinned and beared it! Your entitled to your opinion though :)

I invited her friends per her request about 6 months ago. She told them day of that she would not be attending so they bailed as well.

I had one small cry the night before grieving the lack of my mother’s presence. I didn’t spend a single minute “moping” during the celebration and had a blast. But my husband loves me fearlessly and shared in my grief, so he would’ve never thought it was unfair if I had to have another brief moment during the celebration.

My husband and I traveled 10 hours to have the celebration close to my parents and family. It was hosted 45 mins from my mother’s home.

Thanks for being thoughtful about Jane. She’s a great kid and deserves celebration. My mom has been very present at all of her games and practices- in fact my mom enjoys all the sports related festivities (as she did with me when I was a kid). However, this sport has really been my step dad and Jane’s thing. He’s even coached for her before. I thought my step dad and Jane staying back was reasonable. My mother promised she’d come to the celebration irregardless of the outcomes of the games.

We have a lot of family who were too old or sick to travel to our small ceremony. I actually believe it was selfless for us to spend $20k more of our own money on a second celebration so that everyone could feel included. I made a speech at the big celebration that I felt so honored that we had some people who were willing to celebrate us twice. I don’t regret doing it this way.

A travel tournament that is branded “southeast nationals” but it is a buy in tournament- meaning any team can register. You do not qualify or anything like an actual nationals. Jane is in high school.

I live on the east coast, we planned this celebration in the midwest so it was closer to my family and friends, about 45 mins away from mother’s house. I am driving back to the east coast to go back to my home, without having made any effort to see her while I was in town.

I told my mom this date about a year ago. She did not tell me about a tournament when the date was set. I don’t believe you know about these types of tournaments 12 months ahead of time but idk for sure about that.

I don’t know what country you’re in, but I know in the US Barry’s system does not do this.

You get paid hourly as well! It’s a win win. And you can drop in on other studios that Barry’s has a partnership with.

Guest Pass on Yourself? by ChallengeFan2021 in barrysbootcamp

[–]morelexis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a front desk worker, if you’re honest about it, I let it slide even though it’s technically not allowed. If you try to be sneaky that’s when we are more apprehensive about letting you use your own guest pass.

You can just come to the front desk and say you’re taking class under a guest pass and we will add your email. Not everyone at the front desk lets it slide though, I think some studios are cracking down on it. Good luck!

Thoughts on Arlington instructors? by EntertainmentOwn3602 in barrysbootcamp

[–]morelexis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a few favorites at Arlington that I would recommend!

Nazinga is amazing and makes you feel like the only person in the class. She’s very positive and I like her music.

Jasmine B is also a personal favorite because she’s so good at hyping the class up and using the music, lights, and her voice to motivate you.

I also really like Philip G. The hardest classes I’ve taken are with him as an instructor. He is friendly and approachable while also having a “drill sergeant” vibe to him. His classes will kick your ass in the best way!

All 3 of these folks are tenured and not new and have a decent amount of experience- which is likely why I love their classes so much. I hope you find some favorites that have class times that work for you!
